number of shares in company x share price = market cap (value of the company)
the vehicle by which you trade the shares doesn't really effect this. If the number of shares stays the same, then the share price will very quickly be dictated by what the open market values the company.
But as Sence2 says, if we relist on a new market... that will initialy be a reflection of an independent valuation of the company.
Its been speculated previously (though i have seen no evidence to confirm) that Ernst Young are carrying out valuations on CICC holdings. If these did go ahead, and were favourable, that could have beenn the catalyst for the decision to go for a main board listing. In other words... SB may not have wanted to disclose the value of the holdings whilst listed on AIM, as he knew fine well that the market had insufficient liquidity to respond accordingly to the news.
