I can see the logic from a purely scientific perspective. I just dont think it is the ethical thing to do. IMO when you start treating a terminal patient with a life saving treatment, you create a moral obligation to continue that where possible.

I read your post the other day regarding the board and their lack of focus on commercials in their presentations. I meant to comment on the thread at the time but work got ahead of me. I thought your comments were spot on. The board have always presented with a very heavy scientific slant, which arguably has allowed a lot of us to build holdings whilst the average investor will understanding of the science as a barrier. Its worth remembering that most of us have built up our understanding over a long period of drip feed. Most people chucked in the deep end will likely drown! The company mention outright sales of companies at a price that is currently so incongruent with our market cap as to be unbelievable to most. What the company need to do (imho) is start to lay down a path to those valuations. Show the potential number of targets and market share. I understand why previously they may have wanted to keep a low profile, but surely we need to start talking money.

Hi inanaco. Back when they made that announcement i was quite surprised. I came to the conclusion that either a) the company were "less than shining" by withholding treatment, or b) they felt no further benefit would be gained because the patients already had a robust and specific memory response. I know which one i would hope is correct.

Whilst i will herald all developments in the fight against cancer, I am not too concerned about this as far as scancell is concerned. It's use is very specific (must follow other forms of treatment). Also worth noting this line: "All the women were without evidence of disease at time of enrollment." But lets hope the development continues!

i can't see it to be honest. Not sure of the rules but would the VCT and EIS shareholders have a problem if we delisted and went private? I imagine it would also be a problem for all the share holdings in ISAs too. Would a merger only happen if they listed at the same time? Do they even plan to list?

Glioblastoma is a target of the grand challenge. I suspect a lot of work has already been done to select the components of modi 3.

I'm not sure where the 10 million came into it, as i referred to "double figure" millions, which could obviously go a bit further. The thing to realise is that the deal with biontech would in no way devalue the moditope platform. The use of the modi1 epitopes in a TCR treament would be a different market (very expensive treatment) and would not take from moditope market share. By doing a deal for low upfront cost, but heavily back ended with milestone and royalties, we get potentially huge revenue stream with zero upfront cost to Scancell. A lot of people have complained in the past (and some even now) that a deal hasnt been struck sooner. For the most part o agree with the board strategy of taking the products as far down the value chain as they can realistically afford to do. But with TCR they should (imho) do an early up front deal and let someone else progress it. In other words i would see a royalties based deal as a commercial success from the BoD and far from a failure.

Maybe get an RNS in the morning. Could be a nice catalyst for a rise.

I very strongly believe the big deal will ultimately come from Genentech/Roche on the wider Moditope platform. I just wonder if Biontech will do a smaller deal on the TCR stuff first. My post was really to say that a smallish upfront deal could open the door for a mono trial on SCIB1. It may be that its not necessary, as the combo study could get the big offers rolling in. But a phase 3 mono trial would put us all the way down the value chain.

In a discussion a couple of months ago, someone pointed out that Biontech "don't have that much money" (paraphrased) compared to the major pharma, so we shouldn't be expecting a massive deal for the use of modi 1 epitopes in TCR therapy. Tonight i was thinking about this, and how we may realistically expect a double figure million pound upfront deal with some heavy back end milestone payments and royalties. Which triggered the next thought.. i wonder how much a Phase 3 SCIB1 Monotherapy trial would cost? Now that would add some very serious value! Just a thought.. as ever.

IND application due to be submitted this quarter and confirmation of the Moditope Patent Grant due any time in the next week i would think.

if i had the spare money i would be loading up at these prices.

speaking of the grand challenge - the full applications are due to be submitted this month, does anyone know the date? I wonder if we will get an RNS update.

thanks for posting that by way of a benchmark - previous Scancell patents have been granted in just under a month of submitting the translations.

There is no way you can say the deal will only be around those 3 epitopes. We do not know the terms of the option. Testing of the other 34 epitopes in the tcr platform would not give a full appraisal of the potential within the moditope platform, but one might reasonably expect some degree of correlation.

As we know, at the moment they are supposedly only investigating the modi 1 epitopes plugged into their tcr platform. I would be interested to know if the commercial option is just for those 3 epitopes or the full 37. If it is the full 37 then i think we could easily describe it as a joint platform. In fact that makes me think... could biontech research be either a. Helping us to investigate the relative strength and application of the 37 epitopes; or even b. Helping to identify new ones?
