RE: Brexit - what a joke!!!16 Dec 2018 10:25
Interesting debate here - both sides rational (imo) reasons to remain and leave.
Lets go back to 2015 - David Cameron told the EU he would have a referendum on membership and concessions before the vote would help. The EU told him were to go. Not one concession - even if it was minor like FoM continues but you first must apply and have a job when moving to another country - or you needed to confirm every 2-3 years that you were still employed. To be fair, the UK has opt outs - is not in the Euro - so some say leavers do not know what they want BUT remainers can have different versions of membership too like full intergration.
My point is that I find it hard to want to be a member of an organisation that sticks 100% to its rules and box ticking and will not negotiate or compromise - most people who voted remain did so (i presume) for FoM and fictionless trading. Most people who voted leave also did so for FoM but being independent to make free trade deals and having the ability to make all the law in the UK was key - hence the reason why the country is so split - both camps have different priorities and reasons so neither side really wish to discuss the other sides reasons because they are not interested in the topics that matter to the other side.
One last point - the EU never came back to the UK to offer a deal ... to remain (even after leaving Cameron with nothing). Now why is this? Any compromise on FoM, opt outs and allowing more laws to be decided in the member countries then obviously a vast majority in this country will be happen to stay.
