I do wonder why people need to tell us how much they have invested.. £47k is an insane amount (imo) of money to invest in such a high risk share - lets be clear.. the share price is going one of two ways - 0p or 5p ... red or black .. heads or tails.. never invest what you cannot afford to lose etc etc ... ??!!

He can't go over 29.99% without making an takeover offer - so until any bid is official this is still high risk - I hate deramper but the mindless ramping is just as bad ...

Strange.. I thought they already held 29.9% ??

Thank you - I did wonder if you were shorting here or on behalf of a hedge fund - or indeed both! (not that it matters because it's clear that going short has been the right choice here for the last 15 months exc. the odd bounce)

You might know - but I wonder how many individuals actually short as their main investment method? I presume investing/going long is ten times more traded for small PIs than shorting. I presumed shorting was mainly for the big hedge funds but correct me if I am wrong and it's now a major tool for a mere small time PI..

Applegarth, it made me laugh because the poster is a newbie himself with 68 posts. I post because I like to debate but if anyone posts to try to make others buy/sell then 99% of the time it won't work because BB comments should not be used to trade. You simply shouldn't invest if you do not DYOR etc. as well as using BB comment as one tool. Nothing posted on here this weekend will change what I decide to do tomorrow. Well I did my not lunchtime by buying mum a nice summer coat at the local Debenhams.. then a pub lunch. Whatever happens this week I reckon 3-4 more RNSs tomorrow!

Some of the new comers need to read all the RNSs again - MA suggested he may offer 5p for the shares if certain conditions are met by the BoD - one of those conditions - re consent/bondholders - have not been met. Therefore he will be perfectly entitled to change the bid price in view of this IF he makes an offer - MA might feel that the market either doesn't believe he will bid or that the risks are towards no shareholder equity because the share price is nowhere near 5p nor has it been all last week. Usually when an proposal comes in - the share price moves to or above the bid price.
Sorry guys - but as someone who has traded this for a few months now - the risks are still towards the BoD getting their way and MA being locked out. I hope I am wrong - as MA isn't the sort of guy to walk away BUT his advisers this weekend probably will be weighting up the pros and cons - and a bid - if it happens doesn't have to be at 5p

Jezz... Flybe has been mentioned about fifty times now. Can this stop! At least explain precisely what happen with an airliners than is similar to a retailer re this restructuring because we weren't all invested in Flybe (nor Interserve etc)

Obvious the market expects a bid now OR SPD to agree to assist in future funding securing shareholding listing... Daniel is off out .. Smartie has been abducted... but to be fair it's the nature of the beast .. good news rampers/shareholders appear.. bad news shorters/derampers appear - and it's been up and down on here for days..

If there's no equity left for shareholders - then suspend the shares now.. the fact this hasn't happen is because there are still a few routes open were shareholders can be part of the CVA/funding arrangements - and SPD have been asked to take part. If they refuse - then all shareholders suffer imho. Forgot that the pension trustees/regulator probably had to agree on this as well.. any way this needs digesting but not the end of the world for shareholders - yet

If there is new funding secured via a D4E it will still cost MA a packet to buy Debenhams - the lenders - with their new equity/ownership of Debenhams - will not just sell it then for a few million will they! They probably want £100 million as a starting price! MA knows this - hence why he probably will bid - not sure it will do him any good as suspension might be the BoD next weapon of choice

Stupid question perhaps - but this is a Sports Direct RNS - so why is it appearing on the Debenhams RNS page? Does it have to appear on both company RNS pages at the same time?

MA should have made a formal bid a week ago.he would be over 50% by now and surely that's a position were he could have blocked any refinancing. Shareholders deserve an answer today one way or the other imho

Visainn, agree if you were thinking of getting in last night it was a pure gamble simply because you are going to get a very quick answer. At least LTHs and recent traders had time to get in and out. That option might not be available later today so GL.

Agree it's crap and the CEO should do the decent thing and quit or at least cut his salary by 80%..
