Will UET be feeling somewhat aggrieved by the Avalon partnership I appreciate it's built around leasing but as a major battery supplier Avalon could now via BMN steal the march on SA or am I reading it wrong, are we likely to see a similar rental agreement set up with UET via their Chinese links all quite intriguing

Falling wind, solar power costs will aid in global climate action: report

IRENA, based in Abu Dhabi, is an inter-governmental body with around 160 members. In its report it said that it continues to revise its cost forecasts for solar PV and onshore wind, but renewables have been "beating earlier expectations."

At the beginning of 2018, IRENA's analysis of auction and PPA data suggested that the global-weighted average cost of electricity could fall to just under five US cents per kilowatt-hour for onshore wind and five and a half cents per kilowatt-hour for solar PV in 2020.

At the beginning of 2019, the "potential value" for onshore wind in 2020 had dropped a further 8%, to four and a half cents per kilowatt-hour, while that of solar PV dropped 13%, to less than five cents per kilowatt-hour.

Kujawa stated on the call that NextEra is working to "further advance the next phase of renewables deployment that pairs low-cost wind and solar energy with a low-cost battery storage solution to provide a product that can be dispatched with enough certainty to meet customer needs for a nearly firm generation resource." In order words, the company aims to replace the need for fossil fuel plants to provide predictable power by co-locating renewable technologies with storage capacity. The trend will become even more common as the cost of energy storage continues declining in the coming years. In the company's view, solar and wind will soon become cheaper than all but the most efficient natural gas plants within the next decade, even after adding in a supplemental energy storage system.
