I still haven't fully understood the Avalon tie up as it seems to revolve more around the leasing package than boots on the ground. Any thoughts

Truly stunning research and interpretation in the earlier years this investment was reasonably straight forward to understand now it has become quite complex. There is so much going on behind the scenes your contributions go a long way towards helping me and I should think a few others understand the basics. It's a remarkable company and journey we have been on and the story is still but half told.

Japanese developer Eurus Energy and Australian-headquartered wind developer Windlab have signed a deal with Kenyan authorities to develop an 80MW solar-plus-wind-plus-storage facility in central Kenya.

The Meru County Energy Park is being hailed as "Africa’s first large-scale hybrid wind, solar PV and battery project.”

According to news reports in The Standard and ESI-Africa, the US$150 million plant will comprise 20 wind turbines and 40,000 solar panels. The facility will be a public-private partnership, and the Meru County government will own part of the project once it is operational. Construction is due to start in 2021.

Going back some time I remember when we first learned of the MOU with UET we were all ecstatic we were finally coming of age fancy pulling that off. BBN then went on to say that in reality this was actually a bigger gain for UET than BMN in that they were gaining a foothold in security of supply and a route into SA. Roll forward to where we are today, with Vanchem, electrolyte, leasing , Mokopane etc whoever partners with BMN will in effect position themselves to all but dominate the VRFB space what a coup that would be. So who's chasing who here the list of suitors must be growing at pace - watch this space.

The 2.9% rise in energy demand in 2018, the fastest rate since 2010, deals a blow to global efforts to meet the 2015 UN-backed Paris climate agreement to limit global warming by sharply reducing carbon emissions by the end of the century.

China, India and the United States accounted for around two-thirds of the growth in energy demand. In the United States, demand rose by 3.5%, the fastest rate in 30 years following a decade of declines.

Renewable energy grew by 14.5%, nearing the record increase in 2017. The share of renewables in power generation nevertheless remained mostly unchanged, accounting for around one third.

SLO – Norway's $1-trillion sovereign wealth fund may have to sell its $1-billion stake in commodities giant Glencore, among other companies that derive more than 30% of their revenue from coal, to meet proposed tighter ethical investing rules.

Under the centre-right government's plan, expected to be adopted by Norway's parliament on Wednesday, the world's largest fund would no longer invest in companies that mine more than 20-million tonnes of coal annually or generate more than 10 GW of power with coal.
