H&W never asked UK Gov for funds. They asked them to underwrite an Export Guarantee for £200, funds provided by commercial lenders. Starmer's lot refused but now they have accepted a £300 million reduction in the price of the new FSS vessels being built by H&W in a consortium with the Spanish state owned shipbuilder Navantia and Navantia is acquiring key assets on the cheap.

Topo, Friends are regulars on Ambassador but that might be because they live close to Tilbury. They say, the ships are old, but nice, the food is adequate but service is great.

The price represents very good value but it does attract a certain element.

No big issues with the storm. P&O Iona arrived back in Soton on Friday, a day early and didn't leave until 03.30am today ( that was the plan)

As a consequence Hamburg was dropped from the current cruise.

I remembers years ago BA was pulled up for not recognising their loyalty scheme points as a liability. It ran in to many millions ££. It followed from collapse of one of the US Airlines. Carnival are sheltered from that but the OBC they grant,is, presumably a liability to be recognised somewhere, maybe🤣

Companies have habits of booking positive assets in accounts to appear better and by the same token delay booking liabilities.

One would hope Carnival is so scrutinised by their lenders and auditors that they can't do that. Have a nice weekend, hopefully the storm doesn't reach you. K

Bhants, The debt burden should be the priority. Cash flow is a given with cruise lines as payments are always in advance.

No bonuses, no dividends until debt halved.

We only have to look at Thames Water to see how the debt burden can cripple a business. K

I realise the mining stocks take time to develop but we we've held some of them for several years and it's time we saw some payback. K
