It's working so far with the EU, who I thought would be the last to back down. Negotiating had been tried and had failed, I'm not sure what other approach there is?

Oh I won't be buying into the market for a long time. I'm waiting on a very big crash. Even if it means staying out for a year or two.

The whole market is taking a beating, I think the market thinks China is in trouble and could cause a correction/crash. It's debt to gdp is over 250% (more than I recently thought)... Trump is going after China due to the trade deficit with the USA, and it's income per person isn't enough to pay all the debt off.

The miners and asset managers have taken a hit on the FTSE too as China is a big market for the miners, and if there's a market crash the asset managers make less money in fees.

I'm sure you've noticed recently he said "Collusion is not a crime", this was after it emerged there was evidence that his own son had met one of Putin's close associates in Trump tower during the Presidential election campaign.

He's right, Collusion is not a crime from what I've read. But it seems Manafort may try to get him on other charges from what I've also read...

Remember this big surge in the stock market happened after Trump was elected, and for months the rises kept coming from things he was saying.

No idea if he'll be impeached, but can you imagine what will happen to the market if he is impeached? If the market went up of the back of his business friendly plans, it could just as easily tank if he's removed... not to mention the potential civil unrest.

Over 4% down now, and about to test it's last major support.

It's funny how many people on here say the UK Economy is doomed due to Brexit or words to that effect... but when it comes to LLOY miraculously it won't be affected.

The Dax is also taking a fair beating, it seems the European markets... every decent rise is beaten back down.

It could have started already. The big ones take over a year to find their floor. We've not made a new high in ages and the FTSE hasn't made anything since the start of the year.

No one knows if this is it (including me)... but I don't see many reasons for the market to keep rising, and even if it does the upside must be limited.

Statistically speaking I've read that we're due a recession/market crash. People always think they know when it will start, and what will cause it. But in reality it's usually something that most people don't even see coming.

The USA has bad levels of debt, $21 Trillion... but Trump is doing well with the economy. More job vacancies than people to fill them, GBP on track for over 3% annual growth. And he's going after the trade deficits in an attempt to bring down the nations debt.

China on the other hand has ramped up debt for years, and incomes are not keeping up with the debt. I think China is going to take a hit. I don't know if this is the big crash for China we're seeing now... but their market has been taking a tanking, even after the talks supposedly resuming again.

A Copper strike might temporarily lift Copper, and Glencore with it. But the main issue just now is the Chinese markets. Trump imposing tariffs on China only brought closer attention to China, but China is not in great financially anyway. They have a Debt to GDP percentage of over 250%... I had underestimated it, it's higher than I had read elsewhere. This article says the GDP per Capita (Income per person) basically isn't high enough to deal with the debt they have. If China crashes and demand for raw materials drop with it... then that won't be good for Copper mate. That might be a longer term outlook rather than short term though, obviously with the strikes that might help.
