The agreement recognizes the Kurdistan Region as the exporter of Kurdish oil, which has long been denied by Iraq, and for the first time, according to the content of the agreement, a Kurd will be deputy director of the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company.
According to Rudaw, a joint committee will be formed between the two governments to monitor Kurdistan's oil exports. The Kurdistan Region's oil revenues should be deposited in a special bank account, as stated in the 2023 draft budget, which will be under the supervision of the central government and will be spent by the Kurdistan Region. The Kurdistan Region must also terminate all oil contracts. Kurdistan oil exports will resume soon.
