It wouldn't look very good for Mr Day if the ASX listing didn't happen as HE planned. To an extent it is somewhat business critical because he wants to get the Aussie Inst. Investors on board to help give the company some 'heft'. This in turn will have a positive effect on what he plans next.

If anyone seriously thinks that Shaun Day is going to risk the ASX listing on both a) the MRE happening and b) a rerate subsequently happening then they are at best misguided.

....if just one of those events doesn't happen in a timely fashion then the ASX listing is toast.

At minimum it is obviously 2:1 but more likely 5:1 or even 10:1.

Ghana is I think self-sufficient in power (hydro) - unlike the UK.

Ghana has a very workforce - unlike the UK.

Ghana has a mining industry already - Gold - unlike the UK.

Having visited for a month last year it comes across as a safe an reliable place - unlike the UK.

So conclusion - ALL good :)

Bamps your post @ 08:14 on 8th has caused me to change my mind as to what I think is the most likely outcome for the HAV JV. 

Nothing wrong with changing your mind when presented with new information!

Previously as you know I did think Newmont would more likely than not want to buy us out of Hav.  Now given as you note HAV isn't even in their combined top 10 then I think they may very well wish to dispose of some non-core assets.  On the basis HAV isn't in their top 10 or 12 then it is more likely than not we, GGP, will get the chance to own more of HAV either directly or indirectly with someone else's help.

Being a fan of Philip Tetlock and his dart-throwing monkeys I always like to put percentages on events happening so here goes fwiw.

Scenario 1 - carry on as you were     :  30%

Scenario 2 - Newmont buy the 30%   :  20%

Scenario 3 - GGP et al buy the 70%   :  50%

Scenario 2  would be best for me.on a personal level - but really all said and done not too fussed either way.

Quite a few of you have answered the wrong question. You have answered the Question "which scenario would I prefer" whereas the question MFU asked was... "which is the best scenario ".

So to answer MFUs question directly, my view is..

Scenario 3 would ultimately give the MOST accrued money over time - simply because WE are digging every last ounce out.

followed by ..

Scenario 1 because we would STILL have 30% of the total OVER time.

lastly

Scenario 2 but this would give the most immediate money rush to the company where we could do something else and hopefully there would be a fat divi coming our way.

Goldworm's post @07:09 is very clear and very helpful. In it he gives a gold equivalent no of ounces for Stages 1 to 3 but not no 4. Even so we have a number north of 20m ozs.

With Stage 4 could it be 30? How much of a stretch is that? Not impossible - likely? who knows.

For the sake of argument let us say it is 30+ and our share is 10m oz's as we own 30% currently

So what could we expect as an eye-watering sum for Scenario 2?

Obviously when you buy any asset you don't pay 100p in the £ - if you did you couldn't make a turn on it i.e. a profit.

I think you'd get 20p in the £ for assets still in the ground.

Gold is $2000 per oz pretty much so we MIGHT expect an eye-watering sum to be 10,000,000 x 400 US$ ie 4bn US$ or £3.165bn (fx rate 1.264)

So this gives 62p per share roughly . Is that enough?

So we might well get a nice fat divi, say 25p, and still have serious money in the bank for something else.

My personal view tends towards Scenario 2 because as previously mentioned Newmont upped their bid AFTER seeing NCMs books. So what was it hidden in them - Havieron?

But I don't really know. Percentage wise I'm thinking 40% Scenario 1, 40% Scenario 2, 20% Scenario 3.

Another unknown I can't figure out is this.

Q.What is plan B?

Anyone pick up on the"Long-stop" date being April '23 - was it the DFS or MRE or..... But thats just gone- so are we expecting a revised date to be announced or something else.

Now is ABSOLUTELY not the right time to issue an updated MRE.
Need to see the 'other companies' play their hand(s) first - before we reveal what we've got and how much its worth.

I'm firmly in the camp that thinks the take-over of Newcrest is a done deal in all but name.  Furthermore I'm also firmly in the camp that thinks Newmont will want all of Havieron. 

Why do I think this?  Well, simply it is the size of the increase in their bid; it is I think an increase of 16% - effectively a ONE-SIXTH increase.  Why so much? Why not just 5% or 10%.  What is it that they've seen when Newcrest opened their books to them that wasn't visible to the outside world?  I think we all know that Newcrest were playing down the worth of Havieron all along so is it simply that?  Could be wrong - might be a bit of this and a chunk of that. Who knows - someone does.

So leaves the big question if I'm on the right wavelength :-
    Q. What is an eye-watering sum of money?

Answers on a postcard to the usual address.  Personally if I got 50p per share special div for Hav and we could still go looking for elephants then I'd vote for that.  Perhaps I'm being a wee bit too optimistic.  Not long now.
