Cheers JE, but surely the point is that fair value can't really be ascertained without a MRE which isn't exactly imminent. I can't see any TO offer being accepted by GGP unless the offer was seriously high and I can't see a company like NC making such an offer without a clear estimate as to what the co. is worth. I COULD see them purchasing Hav in it's entirety, but not without an MRE. But with the other assets that look incredibly promising for GGP, the offer would have to be higher than NC would go without extensive drilling and estimates for those assets (therefore no offer for the company as a whole). Obviously just a layman's opinion and I could, of course be wrong (I very often am!) :)
Completely agree that the current MCAP is crazy low.

Such as there has to be an agreement between both parties as to a valuation, and the Newcrest board would have to approve such a purchase at the proposed valuation. To boil stuff like this down to such a simple equation is, I feel, unhelpful. I'm not trying to deramp, I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, I'm just an interested party seeking clarification.

As I understand it, this simply isn't possible (my understanding comes SOLELY from comments made in response to similar comments from you and others on previous days). For Newcrest to takeover, ALL drill results would have to be in the public domain. For that to happen, drilling would have to cease until all results are in and reported. Otherwise NC would be guilty of insider trading. So a NC takeover is not on the cards.
Obviously I'm happy to be corre4cted on this if either the comments I've read are wrong or I've misunderstood them.

Binshed update (I know you've all been on tenterhooks waiting for this). The bin shed survived. The bricks put on the lid seem to have worked (so far). Not looking forward to the dog walk though!
