The current Rio CEO is to stay in place till march 31st 2021 or until a successor is appointed.If the successor is appointed quickly and is Mr Biswas -and immediately the current board of Rio (as soon as MR Biswas had signed his contract with Rio ) gave notice to Newcrest of take over proceedings
1Would MR Biswas be excluded from being involved in Newcrest's defence , he would presumably have a confidentiality clause in his Newcrest contract and would still have a period of notice to serve as CEO of Newcrest .
2) If RIO were to take over Newcrest what could be the shortest time for that to happen and then do agreements(eg JV's) with GGP have to be renegotiated and is the current one or any subsequent invalid till they are .

The reason given for ‘No Autumn Budget”,is to concentrate on the here and now.This in a way seems reasonable.Alternatively it could be argued that by doing this it delays the reality of the financial impact of Covid 19 and the true state of the country’s finances.Does this in effect delay the inevitable rise in the value of gold and delay the pressure on the pound.If more countries do this what will be the effect world wide when the true state of economies become apparent

Another possibility ,in no particular order.
Mr Biswas CEO RIO,RIO takes over/ merges with Newcrest.GGP becomes subsidiary of RIO and is its exploration arm with Messrs Heddle and Baxter on the Rio /Newcrest board esp as GGP have a good reputation for dealings with Martu people and RIO boss left for the reasons he did.Just a thought

Price of Gold passes $2500 /oz

POG below $ 2000 dollars per ounce but the fall back was due .Still think $ 2500 by Xmas is possible

Did the same as Floater 3 months ago, but in an ISA,and same charges on IG trading

Alas I think you are right re pain and suffering for a lot of people.I think we are in a sort of “Honeymoon” period and a full realisation of what the global pandemic has caused hence where the global financial situation is heading ,hasn’t been appreciated yet by many.I am not usually a pessimist .GGP should do well but a lot of people and businesses are in for a shock.In my view.

Interesting times gold over $1900 an ounce and has touched 1907-I hope the RTO goes ahead into the 4 hopefully productive mines

Gold at nearly 1825 dollars an ounce , and Wuhan being investigated for alleged 83 tons of fake gold from deals earlier in the year , and a huge european relief package -what will all this mean for the price of gold and GGP
