They have authority to buy back up to 5m shares. Maybe now is the time to start. It would improve eps for starters if they think the stock is undervalued.
Could be they are waiting for a period of improving CPO prices though I suspect debt reduction is the no 1 priority being c.72% of shareholder funds.

Iceland the UK supermarket chain has banned palm oil from its own branded products in an effort to assuage the 'Green' lobby.
From what I have read its more a protest against deforestation and the impact on animal habitat than against the oil itself which is in c.50% of all products sold in UK food stores.
No-one can argue against that. Using sustainable oil grown on certified and audited estates against 8 RSPO principle criteria relating to social, environmental and economic good practise is the way ahead.

REA reports sustainability
information every year in the AR which include protection of the biodiversity, ecosystem functions, zero burning, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and keeping clean air and fresh water for all estate employees.

The quality of air, river water, tap water and ground water is monitored regularly across all REA estates so as to comply with RSPO certification conducted by a third party.

Indonesian President Joko Widoko is in Malaysia visiting PM Mahathir for talks on the EU plan to ban palm oil biofuel.
The two countries have challenged this ban in the WTO as anti business and discriminatory. A letter to Brussels has apparantly been ignored.
The EU are committed to phasing out palm biofuel by 2020. Germany and the Netherlands are the top importers of palm oil. Malaysia and Indonesia plan massive retaliatory action and will cancel deals valued in the $bns and suspend free trade talks.

China plans to remove soy, rape & palm oil from its import tariff quota, so will not be subjected to restrictions which could be exacted on other products such as wheat, corn & rice.

In such a thinly traded stock, without concerted vols disproportionate sp rises and falls are normal.

As opposed to crude oil which has been falling of late and forecast to keep falling into 2020/1 (price forecast at $61boe).
Palm is heading the other way if analysts and traders have called it right they see Palm at $550+ by 2020 if not before.
Demand supply balance seems better managed in palm than crude which has been battered by slowing global trade and weak demand.
There are no winners in an all out trade war though Chump thinks differently.

China has seen an increase in the amount of palm oil it consumes on account of the ongoing trade war and has been importing less soybean from the US. A total block on all soy products is not out of the question
as a retaliatory measure.

It's expected that global demand for CPO will increase by 7mt in 2019 with the global mrkt needing 77mt this year and by 2030 more oil will be needed to process food instead of biofuels for the ever growing world pop set to reach 9bn before 2050. That will require carefully managed planting increases on estates in Malaysia and Indonesia.
REA have set aside some 6000 hectares (14826 acres) of land available immediately if prices remain stable and profitable. Expect an update at the H/Y.

Good to have you aboard the ss.rea rugs. I'm hoping at this low sp the upside for REA is considerable even in an unloved sector battered by the 'greens'
and climate worriers. Palm can stop or severely cut back on deforestation and planting acerage which incidentally is prohibited by Govts to very selected areas.
If palm cannot expand to meet growing population demand into 2022 and beyond, what will that do to prices? Palm has overcome many obstacles so im betting the industry will continue to do so.

MPE c. 1/6th of REA. Could be material to the better sp performance.
