Biofuel some notes.29 Aug 2019 11:52
Palm-Bio is progressing with enormous interest from other countries as PBio can secure energy supply preserve the environment and develop rural regions by not relying exclusively on petro-diesel.
In fact PBio has been noted as a practical alternative or additive to petrol-diesel through its excellent characteristics
such as clean burning, non toxicity, renewability, all year round availability and sustainability. On top of that it's cheaper and has better carbon benefits.
Mercedes Benz conducted a comprehensive field trial using 30 buses filled with PBio over distances exceeding 300,000kms and found they operated well with neat or blend though the engines were petrol driven and had not been altered, suggesting their practical usability.
Cleaner exhaust emissions were noted as well as comparable fuel consumption.
However, the use of PBio has resulted in increasing concern for the environment and impact of increasing tree farm cultivation and the food v fuel dilemma.
Some experts say the impact from tree plantation increasing for PBio production remains inconclusive because palm tree estates are the artificial green forest with timber and fibre which functions like native forest but in different ways.
It's since been discovered that palm estates could act as a more efficient carbon sink than rain forests as every ha of palm trees assimilates up to 64.5t of C02 annually compared to 42.2t for original forest.
Finally Biomass sources inc palm oil / by products and mill effluent are gaining huge attention for supplying the world's energy demand and have been predicted to share one half of the total world demand by 2050.
