Another bright start to the week shares falling near sub 10. So be it, that's today, tom might be an up tick day. Vols were small 2:1 on the sell side so hardly representative of the good news reported and to come ...we sincerely hope.

Any disappointment will see the stock back down to 5 in a flash so the next RNS will have to be worded extremely carefully leaving no doubt or ambiguity for the mrkt to trash the stock.....oops they already have, well bugger me!

I sure as he'll wouldn't want to be short PAT atm unless you know something MB does not! I didn't want to comment on daily sp moves (pointless) but made an exception today as I though we were going sub 10 at one time and would have to leverage some more.

Can a leopard change it's spots? The strategy of buying cheap companies regardless of the economics of the business no longer works in the Internet world of stock investing.
Buying companies with a competitive advantage at a reasonable price as WB advocated became the standard philosophy though this has waned as new legions of day traders ignore the buy and hold and trade the here and now.

PAT kinda falls between both stools, cheap in terms of valuation, rich in terms of resources. Will either or both win out when the leopard changes its spots or when all the lemmings have jumped off the cliff?

"Any half good poker player knows when to fold-em"... and on the face of it you'd think that's what's been going on in PAT during H2.

But surprise surprise it ain't necessarily so, in fact buys outpace sells not that the near (-41%) fall from 17 in the sp would agree. I mean 41% down when buyers retain the upper hand? Shooooorly something rotten in the State of Londeramark?

Shares in Tokyo were unable to hold on to an early rise of 200 following record closes on the Street ( a strong US jobs data of 500,000 new jobs added in Oct was above consensus estimates). Nearing the psychological 30,000 resistance level prompted investors to book profits. A huge nos of companies are reporting this week including Softbank (not a Bank), Nissan & Tokyo Electron. The Nikkei is up just 7% ytd, second to the Taiex (+17%).

Shanghai is flat despite China reporting positive trade nos yesterday. The trade surplus of $85bn in October was a record. China's trade growth has remained above pre pandemic levels all year. The ASX is slightly lower on techs being sold off'setting gains in miners and the Hang Seng eases on mainland sellers.

Gold is set to be the 'metal' to follow in 2022 according to Bloomberg Intel having bounced strongly off $1700. They expect a reversal in metals as 'precious' will outpace industrials.

Another nothing week where the sp rarely moved out of the spread. Vols & deals were down on last week as buyers downed tools awaiting a slew of news, be it the PL, JVP or drill results from Labolla or Bassala.
As usual as soon as I topped up at 11•5 the shares fell to 11 ask. This chasing the share down is becoming a waste of time and money. Meanwhile we watch and wait.
Other W.African miners did little of note, Cora 0%, Hum off 4% & Orr down 6%. Gold had a better wk gaining $35 to $1820 while Crude slipped $1 to

Tesla helped the the Nsdq to an intraday high of (16,377) up 234 points as the stock surged to $1238 continuing its bullish run (later fell to $1222). Tesla started the year at $730.
The Dow was unable to maintain its upwards move as investors sold Goldman and JPMC but trimmed back losses during the pm session. Some of the lesser known 500 companies cont to post forecast beating Q3 earnings numbers helping the S&P to a new high.

Qualcomm shot up 14% ($156) due to the high demand for chips for use in mobs and car which have been in short supply but Uber disappointed despite posting its maiden Q profit. To date 420/500 have reported earnings which are now expected to av 41% better than last year.

On the economic front the US Commerce Dept reported a widening trade gap of $80bn in Sept a new record. Exports sank 3% to $207•6bn while imports rose to a record $288bn. New jobless claims came in at a pandemic-era low of 269,000 for the wk ending 10th, Oct suggesting the economy was slowly gaining momentum.

Gold is poised for a weekly gain as the Fed holds back on rate rises as they expect inflation to be 'transitory'. Gold benefits when int rates are low as it reduces the cost of holding bullion. Oil fell to a 4 wk low as weekly US crude stocks rose to 3•3m, much higher than expected but gasoline stocks fell to their lowest level since 2017 at the Cushing storage hub in Oklahoma. The avg retail price of a gallon of petrol in the US is $3•41(£2•50).

Thanx Pk73...... were having a very frustrating time these last 6 months, as far as the sp is concerned. But looking through that we are definitely on the right path.

Must admit I have been sorely attempted to bail a few times purely due to the mrkts perversity especially when in the pub and in my cups. Luckily it's a fleeting feeling and I'm back in the real world of realising day to day moves in the sp mean diddly squat.

Anyways holding firm and glad i own a small % of PAT come what may.

I'm certainly encouraged by the latest news from MB when he intimated an agreement was near to hand whether with the Rajasthan Govt or others.
I have made 3 purchases in the last few days despite saying I was done, I couldn't help myself.

Hopefully we will see the last of the sp stuck at this level and the value of the company will reflect all the good news which if confirmed will see a substantial reappraisal in our mrkt cap.

Mrkts took the formal announcement of the Fed's decision to start tapering this month in its stride, as equities rose for the 5th straight day. The Dow, 500, Nsdq and the 600 small cap (R2) all hit new record closes. On the question of int rates the FOMC is split 9 for a raise and 9 against.

On an assumed basis that PAT will hit 12, I have added a few today with more to come when they hit bid 11 and lower if needed. I have never been shy of adding to a losing position.

The saga of an under appreciated stock continues....watch this space.

Very encouraging news and welcome back Prof. I'm not sure how a partnership with a ruling state Govt would work out but if it unlocks the impasse, all the better as long as negotiations don't drag on for months and months which would hurt the sp.
I'm sure MB must be pretty certain he has all the loose ends tied up and if so that truly would be all 6 nos on the lotto ticket.

More records on US mrkts yesterday backed by cont Co earnings proving better than Wall's estimates. Ytd the Dow is up (18%), the 500 (23%), Nsdq (24%) and S/C (26%).

It's amazing since Jan 2, 2020 the Dow gained has 26% the 500 is up 12% and the Nsdq 78%. Over the same period the ftse is down 4% and the All Share off 1%. Of course Brexit & covid didn't help.

OK mickey1122 a sporting friendly wager on close of business should PAT be awarded a licence my forecast is for a max raise of 30 at the close of play, so the prevailing sp +30. What's yours?

Thanx. Not going to argue with that, so fingers crossed. Tbh I'd be more than satisfied with a 30 lift given we still can't shake 11 and 20 looks way too far away. Might be my pessimistic outlook querying my view as the sp stubbornly refuses to budge out of the spread.

Will the license award do any better than all the positive updates we have had as the mrkt is reluctant to acknowledge the huge steps forward PAT has made this year?

More record highs for the Dow, 500 & Nsdq as company Q3 earnings nos continue to exceed forecasts. To date c.86% of those reporting have beaten Walls nos and the 500 earnings growth rate of c.37% for Q3 is the second highest since 2010. Add in the easing of supply chain bottlenecks, a low rate environment and strong growth in Co profits equities look well supported into 2022 particularly the small cap sector who top the leader board (26%) up ytd.

This week sees a number of important economic data for mrkts to digest. The FOMC meet today and tomorrow to discuss tapering and are thought to start reducing the $120bn costs of purchasing t/bill and mortgage backed securities by c.$15bn a month before year end. However this does nothing to reduce the Fed's stretched balance sheet ($8•6tn).

A rate rise is thought to be unlikely till late 2022 or until the labour mrkt is nearer pre covid levels of employment. This could take up to 2 years to recoup all those lost jobs. The report comes out on Friday and after an anaemic no for Sept (195,000) October is forecast to see 450,000 new jobs.
