I see its up as a sell - which begs the question about all the other 1.092 "sells" as well doesn't it.
Just goes to show how easy it is to make buys look like sells by moving the ask a few ( 5 ) hundredths of a penny.

Crusty Looking at the sp today I may get an opportunity to top up and average down ( currently 3.255 ) but it will “only” be about 100,000 shares or so. Nevertheless I'm catching up, slowly !

Crusty thanks for your concern ( genuinely ) but I may have been exaggerating a tad when I used the words “euphoria” and “despair” in relation to movements of £825 !
I am lucky enough ( irony ) to hold 245,000 shares in SXX where I have “made” and “lost” anything from £245 oer 0.10p to £24500 ( on one memorable occasion when the sp dropped 10p in one day ) so to add a little perspective £825 either way is no great shakes if I'm honest and objective.
My investment in stocks and shares is around 30% of my pension lump sum the rest in Premium Bonds and Peer to Peer loans so if the worst came to the worst and I lose the lot while it would hurt it would not change my life. If SXX ever hits its notional value however ( anything from 20p where it is now up to £2.50 ie a 10 bagger for me ) - that would be a different story. I suspect we,re all in a similar position one way or another and maybe, maybe AEX will come goid and give me/us some sort of return if they ever get this bloody farmout sorted. GLA LTH.

Annoyingly I have a spreadsheet which calculates the value of my portfolio and a 0.10 change in AEX moves it by £825 subjecting me to alternate euphoria and despair as the market plays with the spread etc. I need to change that to moving average I think - but then I would just see a long slow steady decline ( very depressing ) !

Not an expert Bellers but there is a pre market opening auction for traders/brokers with Direct Market Access (DMA) I believe. That gives the big boys a chance to trade before (and after) the market opens or closes if I'm correct.
If this is wrong no doubt others will contribute ! Search Direct Market Access on the London Stock Exchange site or google.

I do not believe 2.5m sold v 30k bought makes no difference in the sp. The buy sell figures must be inaccurate
or even the MM's are so bored they just can't be ar*8ed anymore.

Bellers I think the tactic this time is nice round figures in sterling ie a £200k sale a £100k sale etc.
As you say same old same old a steady rise am to settle around 21.40,even with some large sales then magically ( and apparently without large sales - see late reports maybe ) the sp falls back to previous close and below during lunch and languishes there despite every sale apparently being matched in buys.
Wish I was brave, clever, stupid enough to trade the daily pattern - getting it right could make 3% or 4% daily but what if that RNS dropped. Well and truly caught by the proverbials as always.

So who alters the price before the market opens, and why ?
