Be careful with the headline figure results of the vaccines.

Pfizer reported they measured ABs after 7 days of the 2nd dose and Moderna 14 days after 2nd dose. As Michael explains this is peak time to detect antibodies. Worth reading his short twitter thread and you can see there is a big banana skin here.

Mutation N439K even inhibited neutralizing antibodies from “manufactured ‘monoclonal antibodies’ that are being developed into treatments”! Basically this mutation could maybe thwart synthetic antibodies in Renegeron & Eli Lily drugs that Trump & Christie used.'

As predicted Moderna released very similar results to the Pfizer vaccine, both are using the new mrna style vaccine technology.

Results based on 95 patients, only 5 from vaccinated arm developed covid.

Again no other real detail/data provided at this stage.

Seems the twitter crew are all tipping this share again :)

The Pfizer vaccine creator says 99% of the spike protein stays the same, only 1% generally mutates. Although the new vaccine has not been tested in the mink or indeed other mutations he expects the vaccine should work against any strain of the virus.

The mutations however have possible ramifications for monoclonal antiobdy treatments. One report I read said one strain of the virus was resistant to a companies mAbs treatment already.

Expect Moderna vaccine news tomorrow or Tuesday, likely similar '90%' results to Phizer. So news is expected.

So SP may not behave as we want if no early RNS :)

Much of the India rumour is probably coming from this article on 09 November 2020. Essentially EUA's in India are being given out like candy. One EUA was given on a P2 trial of 30 people which didn't even have an adequate placebo control arm. There has also been no transparency and data made available as to why EUA's were given. Looks to me like cronyism and many people cashing in on the pandemic.

Synairgen need to be careful they are not tarnished by the current EUA malpractice/scandals. I suspect a peer review though would help seperate the company from all of the dodgy EUA descisions in India.

Yep read that bit too. You can see why Synairgen have said a further trial is warranted for more severe disease stage (Ord scale 5+) patients. This is new scientific discovery on how interferons work in the lungs going against the current ideas.

Good article here on Baricitinib, being targeted at later stage disease with some good success. Would suggest used in conjunction with Dexamethasone will reduce mortality by a considerable amount.

'In the study, 83 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 pneumonia in Italy and Spain were treated with baricitinib in addition to standard care. Of these, 17 percent suffered an adverse outcome that resulted in death or invasive mechanical ventilation. This compared to 35 percent in the matched control group of 83 patients who received standard care only. The patients had a median age of 81 years.'

The guy responsible for creating the Phizer vaccine is on Andrew Marr and has just given some information

Has safety data for 2 months only - need 2 years of data to know medium/long term safety and if any adverse events.
Does not recommend using in conjunction with AZN vaccine.
Do not know how long immunity lasts - best estimates so far based on T-cell response. Looking at previous SARs infection for guidance.
Suspect we will need a booster immunisation annually.
Not yet tested vaccine with mutations in the virus including mink. However expects vaccine will be ok vs the mutations.
Efficacy in old people, too early to say. Will need more data.
Expect 164 people to develop covid in 10 days to 3 weeks.
Trial has 35% made up of elderly people.
Vaccine - Do not know if it prevents spread/infection. Best guess is it may be up to 50% effective. They are looking into data to discover this.
Vaccine has 90% of preventing symptoms/worsening disease.

Richard Marsden in October has confirmed we have done a pre IND meeting with the FDA and all went well. He went on to say IND submission will be applied for shortly.

I suspect by now we already have the IND and the next RNS will be to announce the P3 start.

LL has been a very long term holder and has top sliced a few times

On 22/07 owned 7.7 million shares
This week he had 6.5 million shares at last count.

Today he has gone under the 3% level. From his previous actions it more likely he has top sliced again rather than selling the lot.

I don't think there will be any big surprises to the SP with the vaccine news from Moderna and AZN likely next week.

The reason being the scientists like Fauci/Topol/Van Tam etc are all predicting similar '90%' results so the news is expected to be good. The surprise would be if they don't show the same efficacy.

I also believe we will see P3 trial news next week.

Re-reading the article its based on findings we first posted here on this board late September.

However the article is excellent at linking up all the interferon research and explaining why some patients are more suseptible to Covid. Its nice they link the peer review in the article to (just don't mention Synairgens name)

I would guess the new entry would be Phizers vaccine. Significant benefit, chemical and prevention of covid disease.

Its amazing what people pick from a peer review.

Overall we have to be happy the only 'negative' found by members is RM being 2nd name on the list :)
