the problem? The more I think about it , the more I lean to AMP being a problem. Their last RNS on Data was so poor with no detail given on what they were going to do with Data - apart from trying to find some cash, it exposed them. The Polaris RNS looks like a vain attempt to pump up their position. With funding creditors looming, they somehow need to keep loans rolling or, they need to do a placing but that would be massively dilutive . tend to agree . clear breach of reporting rules re delay. Think I said they need to do a placement - I suppose they feel it would be too dilutive so put Data on hold. . But the RNS is so crap - it gives no info whatsoever of what is required and what delay is now involved. If its just 3 months say, thats fine - but not a dickie on the implications.

Grant Thorntons impairment of value work came under the audit - which has a much higher standard of care than a valuation [which has loads of caveats] - this assessment has been given to 95% confidence being part of the audit. They could only come up with a higher in use value figure than the completed cost if 1] they know the completed cost. 2] they know with 95% certainty what the contract pipeline looks like.[and the last RNS alluding to further contracts fits in] to do any type of DCF If they did not know these 2 things, they could not have offered an opinion. And given the large cost overuns to date and the disatisfaction of many PIs, GT know this is a high risk client - this opinion would have been internally checked many times over - too high a risk to get wrong. And if they couldn't do the valuation, the co would simply not mention that they had asked for it. At the end of the day, each person has to decide on the integrity of the auditors and their assessment. Thats me for today - looks like everyone has hibernated today!

I think quite a few missed some key points here. The co asked the auditors to extend their audit so as to give an opinion of the carrying value of the port i.e a minimum value- and it came back that the value is in excess of the book value when completed - at present £115m but with further works it could be around £150m by the end of this year. Beginning of the year had £32m cash, plus directors £3m plus faciltiy of £23m. With the first contract being signed, all the evidence points to the port being completed this year. And how do you value a port - by the cash it generates. And there certainly seems to be the demand as per Indias drive for lower emission transport and overall economy growing well.
