The biggest message that I was slow to learn was 'don't have all your eggs in one basket'. It sometimes appears as if the only share someone is interested in is MKS that spells danger. Before the 2008 crash I was enjoying a dividend income of £5/6000 pa and lost it all. It was a real blow because I had already retired. Since I have recovered the big hit to my investment portfolio but have still managed to make mistakes which are the best way to learn. All ideas are welcome, and again thanks to you both. JJ

Fender a good afternoon to you. I am thinking that I might start day trading myself. I have the max invested in Premium Bonds which has provided safe secure access to funds. But in 2026 so far they have not been giving much back in return(prizes). From what I can see you want to buy a share that tends to move about a bit and be prepared to accept losses provided you get back more in gains over a given period. Probably not explaining myself very well but would be happy to use the money produced by cashing to PB's. JJ

Hello Fforest I wonder what the MKS bod really think about the joint venture. Rebranding for a strong message on M&S is long overdue.

Fender you don't have to defend but I see you as inviting debate which is most valued by me at least. Where you look at MKS to trade I have in 2026 invested in GRG, MKS, OCDO, BP. Longer term I have been holding four banks, MNG, TSCO, PRU, MKS, and some AIM stocks. I give this information to show why I have my perspective on investing.

Those who invested at £4.11 were coming late to the party IMHO.

Fender so you invested £50,000 to gain £500, this strikes me as a risky strategy because you could find the share opens 5% down meaning you have made nothing and if you sell actually lost £2000 or more. . You could have invested £6,000 in January with MKS and be showing a gain of £500 now. Why risk £50,000 in one share when you could invest and spread your portfolio? Good luck, JJ

Some people on here appear not to understand what it means 'to invest'. I won't be alone in having bought at £1.13 and can ride out any storm. Also bought more in January this year which is showing a small profit. I would not be at all surprised if MKS is above £4 again in 2026 and even very close to £5. Take a medium to long term view and you can't go wrong with this particular share; DYOR and caveat emptor. JJ

I have not said Burnham will make a good PM; you are gaining a reputation for putting words where they don't exist.

It is too early to decide what Burnham would bring if he became PM. The reaction in bond markets is mostly about uncertainty which no one likes.

Burnham has done a good job if you are able to be objective. I first voted in 1969 so have seen how Labour, and the Conservatives can get it wrong. Yes I voted for Thatcher because it was best for 'selfish me', but now in retirement I am more concerned about my grand-children. JJ

Fforest your calculator is faulty, not 30% down. In current economic climate and before FYR I don't view this as a strong buy. You are entitled to your view of course. Good luck. JJ

It is not all doom and gloom take a look at GRG for a different perspective. Yesterday there was discussion on the radio suggesting that people were accepting of higher food prices and opting for quality with a higher spend but choosing to cut back on holidays. Maybe MKS is going to be one of the winners. JJ

Trump as your 'role model' is ill advised IMHO despite what some of you are doing.
