New cases are flying up on the continent France and Germany seeing 150-200k new cases a day again now and hospitalisations rising with it.

It's a combination of things causing the rise, we were primed for a rise after quite a big sell off. We're also in an exciting position regarding POC, having fairly recently achieved CTDA and covid on the return. On top of that all backed up by AIHL further rollout expected soon and NICE review going ahead.

My feeling is it's probably more covid related but who knows, Genedrive is looking very interesting at the moment again and I don't think there's much risk longer term.

Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 appear to escape antibody responses among both people who had previous Covid-19 infection and those who have been fully vaccinated and boosted, according to new data from researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, of Harvard Medical School.

“It is most concerning to see that there has been an increase in Covid infections in older age groups and in the 50-59 age group who have not been offered another booster yet,” he added.

The strains both have “three mutations to their spike proteins” which “enable them to retrain their attack on human lung cells”, said The Independent.

It means that they have “more in common with the earlier, more dangerous Alpha and Delta variants than the highly transmissible but milder Omicron, which targeted upper respiratory tract tissue”, the paper explained.

The mutations mean that the strains might be able to “sidestep antibodies from past infections or vaccination and therefore overcome immunity”.

Preliminary data gathered by Professor Kei Sato of the University of Tokyo indicates that the variants pose a “potentially greater” risk to global populations than Omicron, reported the paper.

Although BA4 and BA5 are sun variants of omicron, they have more in common with the original alpha and delta variants apparently in that they seem to be targeting the lungs again.

In England, almost 9,000 hospital beds were taken up with Covid patients on 30 June, a doubling of admissions since the start of the month. Data from the other UK nations is not as up to date but suggests a similar rise in June.

You'd be forgiven for letting out a weary sigh. There's so much going on from Ukraine to the rising cost of everything - and now Covid is rearing its ugly head again.

So is summer ruined? Two-and-a-half years into the pandemic we're back facing new variants, a surge in infections, questions about whether the NHS can cope and what it means for all our lives.

Hospitalisations are rising and so are the number of patients in ICU. Outbreaks in care homes have increased as well. But, crucially, these are nowhere near the numbers we saw during the previous peaks either pre- or post-vaccine.

As people gather and mix at large events over the summer we expect to see the surge continue. We saw a spike in infections after the Glastonbury Festival.

So the upwards trend we are seeing here and has been reported globally is likely to grow.

This has renewed calls for mitigation measures: masks in public areas, limits to large gatherings and better ventilation in indoor spaces.

The government is unlikely to implement any further non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs). It sees that as a retrograde step. Instead it urges us to use common sense and judgement.

It may be forced to rethink its strategy on living with the virus if this summer surge continues to grow.

We failed with the PCR covid test yes, but the POC test is completely different... POC is their specialty and it’s better than what the competition has to offer.

I believe many investors will be pleasantly surprised with some decent sales here! And of course AIHL is going to be a fantastic success.

The number of hospital admissions for Covid-19 in England has risen as experts warn the fifth wave of the virus has already started.

Some 7,822 patients in England had Covid-19 on June 27, up 37 per cent on the previous week, NHS figures show.

The POC test has only recently received CTDA. There is a far higher chance of sales now, and moving into Autumn.

Record numbers of hospitalisations in Australia at the moment. I fear we may see a similar scenario in the northern hemisphere this autumn, if not sooner looking at the new cases and hospitalisations rising in the uk and other parts of Europe.

Lol the NHS have designed the AIHL test for themselves to their requirements to use in their hospitals to save children's hearing and to save the NHS money! ...They are hardly going to be sceptical or sit around umming and ahing and waiting for NICE to add it to the official guidance before installing it. The NHS know how good it is.

So I'm expecting news about further rollout very soon.

Testing will still be needed and in many scenarios a highly accurate POC test is by far the more attractive option than doing multiple and less reliable LF tests or inefficient PCR tests.

Also worth noting the substantial increase in hospitalisations Portugal has experienced from the latest covid wave there. We don't really know what is around the corner with covid, experts are still saying we could see a far more dangerous mutation.

Better to be in at this price rather than wait for the news that’s for sure. Attempting to buy in at any decent quantity when a sales RNS arrives will not be easy at all and it’ll probably be impossible to get in at this price with any amount.

I’m expecting some kind of sales for the POC to be announced soon. With this current covid wave kicking off, I expect target customers will be anticipating and preparing for a potentially huge wave in autumn.

On top of that I’m expecting AIHL further roll out anytime which will also cause a huge uplift in the share price. Exciting times.

At the end of the summer early autumn, if NICE guidance arrives and we see surges in covid we could see the excitement return here with big volume and rises from these levels. If that coincides with decent sales figures I would expect multiples of todays price.

In the meantime, further rollout, new products and any unexpected positive news is possible. Without that, or until that probably see a slight drop.

I’m expecting AIHL news soon on rollout through Manchester hospitals and hopefully further afield. Additionally, I think we may have a positive POC surprise soon especially considering new cases and deaths are rapidly rising again. Also worth noting that the company wouldn’t have gone to the trouble of getting the CTDA if they didn’t see a market in the UK. Plus with all the positive promotion and praise genedrive are receiving across the industry thanks to AIHL, and the sheer quality and uniqueness of the covid POC I think there’s a very good chance we will see sales.
