Just a couple of observations of the effects of weather from when I worked at Telfer way back in the late '80's.
The open pit at that time reached 57C at the bottom during summer - passing clouds parted in the shape of the pit outline.
There was an 'Indian Summer' period of about 2 weeks a year where we wore gloves 24/7 - during the day to avoid being burnt by the stair handrails (48C+) and on night shifts to avoid sticking to them (0C)

Work didn't stop. We were paid well.

Purely my 3x based on the sort of info we already have and the number of potentials. Time is the thing. I also have a couple of surrounding explorers as I figure a rising tide floats all ships (I’d like to triple my total investment). We’ll all be able to reassess when the expected raft of news starts rolling in. I must admit I’ve seen a few wilder estimates than my own.

Mostly oxide won gold (straight from close to surface oxidized material or chemically oxidized sulphide ore) eventually goes through electro-refining after cyanide/carbon treatment.
Copper concentrate, however, needs smelting, and the gold is recovered during this process as well.
I’m not sure of the sorter process you refer to but there is equipment that can assess the ore on the back of a truck and send it to the relevant stockpile. Stockpiles, assigned a value by geotechnical staff, can the be blended to be crushed and milled and so on

There are certainly plenty of rules, including non disclosure, comms through authorized people only, freeze on held share transactions. Way back then not as many rules but there are now. I’m currently a Production Manager and all these rules apply.
There are clear accountabilities for geologists and ‘in the know’ staff around exploration. Leaks can generally be spotted when large share transactions (buy or sell) for no reason.

Back in the day we floated the copper to get around a 20% concentrate (in one tonne bags). Broke the back of a few trailers getting it to Port Hedland. They smelted the roughly 2 ounces of gold per bag when winning the copper. We also had a separate oxide process stream and a massive dump leach operation for low grade ore. All easily poured into bars.
To treat oxide gold with cyanide and send out in bars you need to oxidize it first (deep gold has seen no oxygen). You don’t want copper in your flow stream as it is less noble than gold and consumes cyanide first. So, will probably a mixture of processes. High Cu/low Au - flotation but bulk handling. High Au/low Cu - Pox.
Positioning of the decline will help give an idea of the metallurgy- I don’t see much of an issue. How to recover all the gold and all the copper will be a bit of a challenge, but a relatively easy one given technology today. I am not aware of what they do these days. I’ll have to look it up.

I’m thinking if there are a couple of major discoveries (with decades in them) the heat will be on to determine best blend (Ag and Cu) and how to significantly expand the Telfer plant. Possible introduction of rail, perhaps Pressure Oxidation for deeper sulphide. Will be an exciting time - you can only do so much with grade. Throughput will be King. The ounces will be stunning if all theses prospects materialise at half of what we expect.

No, we’ve all been long gone. I’ve spent the last 25 years since ‘96 working as an Expat, first in PNG for 12 years (giant Porgera Mine and Lihir Island - both million ounce pa sulphide gold) and 5 countries on the African continent since 2006. Mostly gold but now in graphite - for refractory and electric vehicle batteries. I miss gold but graphite will become much more exciting in the medium term.

Always an interesting read on this BB.
I’ve long felt the Telfer region held more promise. It was once thought to be the legendary Lassiter’s Reef or the ‘other’ he found (and lost).
I have some personal experience with Telfer as the Processing General Foreman in the late 80’s. My young family and I lived there. It is FIFO nowadays. Don’t miss the heat.
Good luck to all investors. I’m a late entrant at around 20p average (and still buying) but expect a 3 bagger with patience.
