Think you could be right there, however IF we manage to dispose of NA for a decent amount and did significantly deleverage, interest rates shouldn't have too much bearing on this specifically, considering the short term finance liabilities are now secure, right?
Personally, I have a hunch that the 2% inflation target will be adjusted up marginally which will help with the above and possibly accelerate rate cuts.
A few months ago some brokers commentating on the mortgage industry were talking about 2026 when rates would start coming down, they seemed to be aware of the higher for longer narrative before it became mainstream jargon!!
I have restrained from buying small tranches in 3 on my watch list today, JD, Ibstock, and Aviva because there is every chance they could all reach Oct 22 lows again before any rally.
I remember the guys on Bloomberg discussing year end s&p targets in May, June during the rally, they all predicted sell offs in September/October.
Makes you wonder if these fund managers purposely orchestrate sell offs to their own end.
