It is amusing to me to see how investors value certain companies and sectors on AIM over others. I have invested in the energy sector for a while and all the companies there are valued by where they will be in 3-5 years’ time it seems. Take a company like ITM, good products and partnerships, targeting massive growth, reported an operating loss of £29.4 million and revenue of £3.29 million, Clearly heavily in an investment stage and the current market cap is an eyewatering £2,361 million.
By comparison companies like Mobilityone seem to be valued by where they were 12-18 months ago. I got invested in June 2020 when the market cap was around £4 million and yet the company was showing revenue and profit of £1.18 million on revenue of £169.4 million, clearly wrong. Revenue grew in the following year by 45% and profit by 109% and now the market cap stands at a still inadequate £27 million. Revenue over the last four years have grown 30-50% per year and profit even faster, a trend I expect to continue or increase thanks to the partnerships and licences they have acquired. We at least do not have to wait long for the next glimpse into the future, the trading update in September will tell us more.
Where is MBO going to be in 3-5 years’ time I wonder.
