Has anyone seriously looked at the financial accounts and considered SS's remuneration package as a % of turnover and the background of losses?

How can this be justified?

I think that you are reading the situation incorrectly - this is as far from a lifestyle company that you can get.

I don't think that this is a binary play - clearly SD and the BoD believes that the company has the capacity and capability to do both at the same time. That being the case and given we are an exploration company as well as developer / hopefully soon to be miner, it makes absolute sense to continue to try and add to your portfolio of assets. Mining is a long long term game and an additional commercial find would give the company an added tail wind. As you say discovery to mining is a long process and just getting the discovery is a long process - best time to start is right now if it is manageable and clearly SD thinks it is.

Not as long a road as it was and SD has found a short cut now as well.

The new super major rhat is Newmont - probably the only portfolio on the planet where they think Hav is not of the same size and contribution to the portfolio. Sums up the reason to divest.

On a positive note Clive - your remaining shares just went up 7% and you have a holiday to look forward to.

General observations

1. So easy to criticise with the benefit of hindsight

2. Profits or losses only materialise on a sale.

3. The market is incredibly hard to predict as it doesn't often act in a logical fashion. It plays on sentiment largely.

4. If anyone here hasn't made a bad call on an investment - then they aren't really playing hard enough.

Stick with the underlying basics of the GGP story and give it time.

Stands tall / hides away....

I understand and empathise with the points you are making - but standing tall can come in many guises. So does hiding away.

I understand the frustration on the lack of recent comms - Robbie has also acknowledged:.......I am very aware of the frustrations and anger of shareholders and I agree you all have every right to be frustrated......

What we haven't seen is the evidence of standing tall but doesn't mean that he hasn't - I can only imagine the leadership that has been required to take this company forward over the last 12 months with limited working capital and multiple headwinds - hopefully we will shortly see the evidence of progress which hopefully will include a robust plan going forward which is fully financed. So Robbie is still leading the show and maybe hiding away can be confused to a degree with getting on with business - but there is no denying that this should have included a better comms strategy. We all learn from hindsight. Lessons I am sure (hopeful) will have been learned and with the right financial backing and team support, will not be repeated.

I remain extremely positive even though I have had my sleepless nights at times over the last few months!

If you read the email and the journey that the company have been on with the auditors - can you imagine how that would sound in a weekly tweet ..... and this week we educated the auditors on the finer points of mining ..... and this week despite the fact we have an independently produced mine plan, the auditors are asking that the independent plan is independently audited. I can only imagine the frustration that Robbie has been feeling and it's there to read if you read closely between the lines.

So whilst many on here have been saying it can't take that long for an audit surely - well it can and it has. Would it have helped if we got a blow by blow account of the detail? - possibly but I bet most of us would have been screaming WTF at the screen every time we read another delay outside of the direct control of the company.

And relax. Certainly sounds like we are in the final stage now and there is a flood of news waiting in the wings.

It's been a frustrating time but act on facts and news and not emotion I suggest going forward.

Very valid points on the sentiment and general market conditions. Here is the scary part - it might get worse according to some. Not aimed at GGP but at the markets in general. In the event that a coincidence of events trigger the fall in the markets it might impact miners in the short term but there is a high likelihood that even if they are impacted, the impact will be shorter and not as severe and they are likely to bounce back higher and stronger. So in short some more potential volatility (might be the understatement on the century) BUT along with other gold producers (by that time) GGP will be one of those life rafts in high demand.

Petejh - a couple of observations:

1. This is mining - 7 -8 years is roughly half the time for a normal discovery to translate into production - and remember on a small % of discoveries ever make it to production.

2. Investing in the early stages on hope is a strategy - its a high risk strategy but it is a strategy.

3. Well done on monetising your profit as you did - many here are envious and wish we have studied and understood the Lassonde curve back then.

4. Having now researched more fully the Lassonde curve I am looking forward to the second and larger wave - not guaranteed but the POG and copper upsides and disconnect between miners and POG could make the second wave steeper and longer than many think possible.

5. Put some of these shares into my pension pot - long term - its my strategy

6. Psychological games - 100% - the games represent a huge % of market activity and played at all levels. Anyone thinking the Fed is not playing a game at the moment for example might want to think again China is playing a game - a very open game for anyone interested and wanting to take note. The only question there is how much of their CB gold purchases are not disclosed.

7. Despair of PI's - yep I get it. In part a reflection of todays instant gratification culture and also I suspect as result of inflationary pressure on day to day living and a back drop of falling SP - a double whammy.

8. Your recommendation to switch off - agreed - although my money is on this flying in time.

Question - is it the MM's or the fact that shorting is not illegal?

I hate the whole idea and practice of shorting with a vengeance.

Avocet - that's an upgrade from your last 0p prediction.

Games have always been played with this stock (and so many others). It can become very uncomfortable but time has proven to be a great healer in the past and nothing to suggest that will not be the case again.

As always when the going gets choppy, the best advice is to look away and focus on what is important in your life today - in the knowledge that SD and his team are working to deliver in the background on our behalf.
