The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.

It is never wise to quote all the best bits from a shorters history as most people scan through posts, meaning you are helping him by reposting his ****.........
Shorters of recent in many UK shares are taking advantage of whats happening around the world Winny. Those who believed in THG probably shorted it too Winny - for example, if an investor owns a stock that they believe is overvalued due the war in ukraine, the pandemic, inflation etc, they may choose to short sell an equivalent number of shares to offset potential losses if the stock price falls.
Share price will return once inflation is back around 2% anyway, hopefully within the next year or 2.
A_game. 100% spot on.. we'd be the last know if the deal was off, but the fact the sp dropped to 81p and then bounced back and ended up finishing at 95p tells you all you need to know. the last time the deal fell through I can certainly tell you there was no such bounce backs, and it would certainly not hold and rise back up into close.
Those who held on today will be rewarded with a bounce-back tomorrow.
What Bloomberg shared was a mere opinion it seems, it was in the morning, meaning they probably had the article submitted the night before - by law, THG would have needed to release an RNS announcement as soon as possible after the decision, and always before the stock market opened for trading this morning. The fact that there still hasn't been an RNS saying Apollo have walked, tells me it was a tree-shake.
If one came tomorrow morning, an investigation by the regulatory authorities and potential penalties for MM and the company due to the fact it was held back.
I think the bid will be a -30% premium, it would be quite the bid but MM would say yes because he'd want to do the opposite of what they thought, just so he felt he got the better of them, do ya know what am saying?
Oh here we go, the magical barrier at £1, yet on the way down it smashed through £7, £6, £5, £4, £3, £2, and the magical £1 within a year. Total nonsense. The bid is around 85p and everyone knows it.
I wanted to take a moment to apologize for any annoyance I may have caused you recently. I realize that my excitement over the sale of THG may have come across as being overly exuberant and perhaps even annoying to some.
