The only trouble with share buy backs, do they work now?

20 years ago share buy backs would neally always push up the SP 's but now days it doesn't seem to make any difference at all.

Just look at how many other companies are doing buy backs and most if not all the SP's haven't really moved. OK we all know the princible but it might take months to push up the SP , no I would rather have the divi and now that VOD and 3 are merging and saving costs there should be no dought about Divi's going forward. Look it's Aug and normally quite so let's look forward to Oct where the SP should be way back up.And that's what I am looking for.

Now looks such a great buy so just topped up, must see 85p again soon.

Yes so does that now mean they could go after Pendragon with 30p offer, otherwise they could be left out in the cold as there are not that many other groups to go for.

Good morning Solly1, you know you shouldn't have put that little bit of possible negative info about ITV America on the post board. You know tom will be all over that and use it to try and drive down ITV more.

Something is going on , just look at all those large buys on friday afternoon what 2-3million.

Hello Dean 36, even at this stage you haven't given up have you. Once they go into admin there will be NO options and NO money it's over. There will be NO fire sale to sell off assets everything gets transfered to the new owners. whatever money you have left in will be gone. Simple.

Like many I have been following these for months and waiting to see if they have turned the corner. They say this work will not impact the pre IFRS 16 Adjusted EBITDA, which is expected to be £9.0 million as previously stated.

But will there be any profit after tax ?and if they do go a divi will it be 0.5p or 1p any ideas.

I thought about buying some on Monday just before the results or shouls I wait.

It's the media anything goes and if you play in this game you get your come upance and so any news is good news that puts ITV in the spot-light.

I don't know what con and tom are on, No law was broken with Philip and the city will not be looking to get rid of the CEO when she has laid out the plans for the next 6- months which look much better for growth and profit. With regards to SP doesn't JP already have a £1.40 target for the next 12 months, so I am not out of line with that. You and tom are only here to see your own names up on the post board to make you feel more important otherwise why would you be on here if you think there is no hope for ITV . Or your just waiting for 60p buy in but I think you have now missed that. All good banter.

No it isn't is it. I think the idea is now dead in the water why on earth would the company ditch her now when the next 6 months look much better and with higher profits.

It never stood a chance anyway and it was only in the minds of a few posters who didn't know what they were talking about. Onwards and up wards.

Good morning, I think the Divi will be 5p ish, 1.7p now then another 3.3p which is still good.

Anyway it does look as if they are on plan for most/all of their targets with some good improvements, but also some negatives due to investments that they said would happen this year.

But we all know that the doomsters will be high-lighting all the negatives to push their points of view. Even so I wouldn't be surprised to see the SP go down a little in the short term, you know what the city is like.

Many years ago I would buy stocks and then sit on them to grow but stopped that way back and it's been buy and sell when the time is right.

For anyone that has bought at £1+ and just sitting and waiting for a return needs their head seeing to, but ITV for now at these prices is a no brainer.

So many posters on here that think they know it all have never been anywhere near a large company let alone run a bus or a board room. ITV is in a 1-3 year plan and that takes time to work.

Many bosses are just not interested in the daily SP of their companies and as long as that pays off in the long term and they get back large amounts of cheap/free shares as well as a good salary they all win. Interesting to see what happens next.

I am sorry but it doesn't work like that, and life is NOT fair.

The old company / current set up has gone bust , the old shareholders had the chance to put extra billions into the pot but didn't because they knew they would never get their new money back

The new main shareholders are taking the risk and they want all / any profits for themselves and who can blame them. If you still hold any stock even if ti gets to 10p-15p it's worthless and will be gone when the new company takes full control. Maybe in 6-12 months if /when the new company floats / lists on the market you will once again have the chance to put more of your new money into it.

Good morning tom, let's just get this clear, I have not once told / advised anyone to buy these shares I have just said I have been buying as it's my view.

Where as you and some others have spent the last 6 months telling everyone NOT to buy. That's the difference.

The last thing we all need is/are posters coming on here telling everyone they said this or that would happen after the event. Who cares what you and others think or said it's all hindsight and everyone already knows what's happend. How about are telling us all what's going to happen and then be proved right .!!!!!!!!
