Considering the above article from late April was the Minister for Minerals extolling the forth coming issuance of the SMLs, if it’s now only up to him to issue after the rubber stamp from the mining commission let’s hope for both haste and speed.

The latest RNS has to be read in conjunction with the RNS of 29 April saying we could interact with the SAPP, etc. It has to be an unlocking mechanism for the power side of things. When you see the mess SA and ZIM are in over their power there must be deals that can be done swiftly if we can get by the TANZ government s£:6show?

Like yourself, BCL this has to be the beginning of the end for the licensing process, and it will be issued swiftly by the Minister for Minerals signing this off?

Spot on SD, the landmines that this guy has avoided in a Tanzania this last year and to still keep this show on the road in some shape or form is an utter testament to his tenacity and skill. It also shows you that beneath the populist mess in some quarters there are still government agencies still out there trying to do the right thing and create workarounds.

There may just have also been a dawning realisation on the GoT that when it comes to advanced BASE LOAD power projects they have few options to advance with…….

This isn’t (at present) Moz with heavy rail infrastructure to take large amounts of coal out to a port or out of the country. There is no market here for coal, well, none that would make it feasible to dig large scale amounts out of the ground IMHO. The only feasibility for MCPP Coal is MCPP Power.

The ML’s are to make MCPP work in some way or another. Could mean a smaller power generation unit on a piecemeal basis (e.g. 150MW, etc.). Could be that the SAPP wants a deal now but won’t strike one without a licence and nod in place by the government.

‘The change in approach with regard to the ML-application has also provided further clarity with regard to ongoing development of the MCPP in general and will afford the MCPP with a very welcome gain in forward momentum."

That above passage suggests to me that the SML / ML is the stumbling block to get MCPP to a ‘deal’ stage.

You'd assume (correctly IMHO) that LC hasn't just taken a mad flyer, withdrawn the SML and randomly cut up the land into 7 parcels. So something is afoot in conjunction with the mining commission.

The plot thickens. So why 7 MLs in place of the 1 SML?

To keep it under the cabinet $100m approval status? To monetise the land better such as a smaller planned power plant or a stand alone coal mine?

All guesswork of course.
