VELA is basically a VC fund, investing in fledgling/unproven companies and business models. The whole VELA business model is to be in early and reap the rewards longer term. How can you expect near instant returns? Even if a new investment is announced tomorrow, the true value of that is much further down the line by the nature of what they invest in.
It's red because impatient PI's are selling and at the moment no buying but that will change, just not overnight

That's promising volumes and they will only grow as MODE gains traction and Bitcoin continues its bull run. Also good to see this snip in the RNS.

I didn't think we had exposure to Bitcoin via Mode investment but looks like we do have a small one.
Problem is for an early IPO like that, its about bottom line revenues, if they're charging people 1p a trade and only doing 500 trades its irrelevant volumes are up 900%. Once that translates into cold hard cash people will look more seriously.

I suggest you give Conifer a call and ask why they bought into the placing at 120p? Sure thir due diligence department would love to have you on board for your insights.

2017 Financial Guidance:
Kite expects full year 2017 revenue to be between $40 million and $50 million , which assumes no product revenue, and full year 2017 GAAP operating expenses to be between $490 million and $515 million.
Not such a crazy concept now is it? And that was cancer related. Maybe some have high hopes for the therapeutics division and this is a long term investment.
Although i will say some sadly were just caught in the Covid stick whirlwind, but if I was going to be spiked on any I would want it to be this one, so many opportunities.

I guess you could always stare at the desert telling everyone you own 100% of what's under the sand dunes but you can't get it out....check my maths Dhanteras but 25% of a near term revenue generating asset is a lot better than 100% of a tenement with only intrinsic value.

Dhanteras - I said this yesterday, even if a bank would loan at better than 8%, you would still need to take on a miner to do the work....the bank can't offer that.

DGR that's a good point and I think I also missed a USD to GBP conversion in my calcs somewhere. The original allocation was lower than 0.66% it was around 0.38% so the increase in SP Vs reduction in GDXJ AUM looks like they may actually have to dump a few (sadly)

Well that depends on who was doing the buying really doesn't it......sadly I don't have an answer to that question.

Hydro - lets hope they don't make the same mistake as last time with their calcs and have to feel your wrath again!

Cristophe - the GDXJ is a float market capitalisation weighted index. So the two factors for our % allocation are Mkt Cap and free float. Our Mkt Cap has almost doubled since 30Aug when the last mkt cap calc was taken. Should our free float have changed that could impact the allocation.
The next piece, once we have a % weighting is the size of the GDXJ which looks to have dropped from $6.6Bn to $5.6Bn so that's about a 15% drop in assets to allocate.
Back of a fag packet calcs, $6.6Bn AUM given a 0.66% allocation in Sep was around $43.5m of shares. Allocation doubles to 1.32% (assuming free float same and Mkt Cap doubled) but GDXJ NAV down to $5.6Bn would give a ~70% increase in allocation to around $74m. $30m buy ish I am thinking, although there are some unknown variables such as exits and entries to the index. Hope that helps.

I think your second point is the key one here hants.
Got to be done properly and first time round, hence the slower progress than some would have hoped.
The company has a lot more in the pipeline and to destroy the credibility of Affimers rushing a COViD test that they never set out to create in the first place = car crash.
Sir Al knows this and I’m glad he’s protecting the longevity of the business!

Badshah - We probably could have gone 100% on every tenement but it would have had to be one at a time and unlock the value from one to move on to the next....it would have taken years to do. There is clearly a cost that comes from unlocking the value quicker and GH has had to choose which one to “sacrifice” a portion of. I think there’s a reason Scally wasn’t offered up.
I also think you know this and are joining your wind uk merchant pals from this morning....
Ggp are an explorer and need a miner, otherwise you just own land with intrinsic value and can’t unlock it. There would also not have been a better deal on the street because yes someone could have offered up the cash but what value do you put on NCMs input? You would have still had to pay someone to help drill and eventually mine it!
