Broch hopefully they can find a better piece of kit as I know it is a pain retrieving some items. Good to hear that some forms of talks are ongoing but the delays don't appear to be appeasing many on the frontline.
Broch apparently, they got a massive job lot from CWU HQ as they are about finished digging themselves into a massive deep hole. Seriously is it because they can't get supplies or is it to save money or does it make it easier for the user? Of course the shovels will be multi-purpose.
Any news on the nationwide zoom call? I get the feeling the business isn't in any desperate hurry. I wonder if they can string it out to after pay cut off this month so any costs for pay rise will fall in Q2.
Ispy I am too tired tonight. You are absolutely right it is all down to bad management. No, I wouldn't be coming back under those terms £60k I might think about it for a minute. I am very happily retired. I have done deliveries, worked in scores of delivery offices and know plenty of posties. If you think someone disagreeing with you or having a different opinion discredits you thats your issue.
Ispy I am not sure what angle you are coming from as you know there are a multitude of ways the business can cover resourcing shortfalls be those short or longer term. Until the processes within the agreement are deployed the business will use what is best fit for individual circumstances. To get QoS back on track and achieve USO why wouldn't you use agency even just until workload is matched to resource.
I can't recall if it says in any current agreement that only F/T staff can cover early morning work what there isn't enough F/T staff to do that? If the CWU are/do sign up to help recover QoS what would be the issue in taking the pressure off existing staff.
I agree the optics of recruiting fresh staff on reduced T&C's wouldn't look ideal but if nationally 10k have gone and you need to recruit say 2.5k into specific struggling offices to get back on track better to look a bit stupid than continue to fail.
You are entitled to your opinion on managers. Unlike you I met some very clever experienced managers, many who came through the ranks and knew the business inside out. There is a difference between managers being diabolical and having no idea than them having to deploy changes/processes that you may disagree with. Of course, there can be many reasons why people don't want to become managers and when you criticise shareholders for not knowing the details of the business do you know the details of what every level of manager needs to deliver/produce/change/manage/objectives/business planning if not is that not a bit hypocritical?
As I say we are entitled to our opinions but my actual experience with hundreds of managers from board members, area managers, mail centre managers, DO managers, shift managers, team leaders is different to yours.
AngerS at best when the business does carry out some reviews in the next few summer months it will have given any current revisions time to bed in and there may be some tweaking to ensure adherence to achieve QoS. Reading about all the agency that are still in the business, it may be an increase in this area or an increase in P/Timer hours or even a little bit of recruitment.
The business went to the brink in some offices and may need to be seen to be doing the right thing.
I expect the zoom call dial in numbers will be widely shared and a transcript will appear at some point. Some are already talking about more revisions, so the call won't stop these. IMO it's just agreeing some joint working/reviews/processes.
As you can see from the FB comments most contributors don't think it will make any difference to the business plans.
AngerS its partly to say everyone is on the same page and hearing it from both sides. As you say it won't be much new just confirming that the business will aim to stick to the agreement and review revisions etc. I wonder if there will be anything on the suggested additional lump sum all aimed at getting the yes vote.
AngerS it's as if they are trying to grind their members into submission to say yes when the ballot comes out. Members asked if the meeting on Tuesday even took place. Some suggest it will be Friday 1630 before they hear anything pushing things further down the road.
Talking of kicking the can, it looks like the US debt issues will be pushed out to at least 2025. Markets are looking positive for today.
Qube research slightly increased their short 0.02% and crossed the reporting threshold.

Morning all. Redceo I remain optimistic here although Oligarch is correct the business has made some strange decisions over the years but IMO they are beginning to change for the future and importantly with more speed than has been evident in the past and that lack of urgency has in some instances been caused by disputes/disagreements down to local level.
I thought it was reassuring DK said he was happy to stay invested if he had said the opposite then there may have been a negative reaction. The decision to keep GLS in the fold will have benefits and synergies with reintegration of parcel force will be good news. Of course, it will be great to get the agreement done and dusted as a No vote will only cause more disruption and pain for all.
MaryBr190 good news a meeting is taking place. Other than what has already been shared on workplace I don't expect the BOD to grant DW's request for a UK wide zoom meeting but who knows maybe yet another joint statement will be the outcome.
Can I ask where you are seeing the 68% support figure, I personally think it will be much closer than that.
Good to see Citadel reduce further, maybe not too long until they drop below the reporting threshold.

Simx it was posted around 1000am. I am not sure the business will say much more. I think DW wants this nationwide zoom call with every manager and every rep to hear what the business has already said in other communications. Not many of the members who contribute to the CWU FB page seem convinced anymore.
Just perhaps that if this supposed increase to the lump sum materialises it may encourage a few more to vote yes. I still have my doubts, but we absolutely need some certainty and the rebuilding plan to move ahead with speed.
New video from DW/AF on CWU FB basically saying what was in their latest brief about postponing the ballot. The CWU exec stand by the agreement but wants business to take various actions on revisions. fixing QoS etc and to show some humility and accept they have caused some of the issues. Brief mention of possible additional lump sum. Stated that both CWU and business have no where else to go now in terms of fixing QoS and adhering to USO
Not a major surprise really. Not what I hoped for but DW/AF accepting their members were IMO going to vote no and therefore making positions untenable. As hundreds of people have asked over the last month or so what is/was the CWU's plan B?
Citadel autoboots reduce. Almost playing with it daily.

Oligarch I agree and sets a further precedent. I know the business has taken pension holidays before but perhaps the business could borrow another £500m next year and pay back £50m a year for the next ten. Maybe pay less interest.
Broch it's been mentioned before it is the pension surplus built up over previous years from contributions from both the employees, business and investments made by the trustees. I guess it's a bit like dipping into your own savings ISA. The trustees of the scheme must have given the go ahead. I am not sure even that will suffice, as many employees have said for long enough it's not about the money, it's about the T&C's. I hope for a yes vote but still have my doubts.
Citadel down 0.11% yesterday and up 0.04% today.

DerekR out of interest I looked at the Spectator subscription. £1 for digital and £2 for digital and hard copy. As I said some people may still prefer print but an extra £1 a week to kill off a few more trees......
When I can have it at my fingertips instantly I know which option I would go for if I was really forced to read it.
