Glad to hear it Charles. :-) Tho' so far you appear to be the man with the Midas touch. Can't help wonder if the uptick today is anything to do with a leaky ship regards ML decision?
Yeah it's easy to panic when facing a loss, that's when a good supportive board helps a lot! I did similar myself RP, sold a 3rd, but I jumped too quick at 804. I think you played it very well.
I will also be looking to reload when - and if! - it falls enough - winner both ways anyway. :-)
And to think you were going to sell up here early doors Retirement Plan. A good thing some of us talked you out of it! :-)))
If we go down to 750 again doubt it will stay there long, however they're still predicting a big market correction at some point, so perhaps those with patience will be rewarded (once again!).
All Folks?* ...sorry, couldn't resist. :-)
Wallyj, thanks you're a star (once again). I watched the presentation - very reasssuring and great to have Leo explaining the figures in more depth - but no way I'd be able to sum it all up as concisely as you've just done. :-)
Very interesting indeed... cheers Spencer/extrader. Orph are already collaborating with the HIC-Vac/The Wellcome Trust (https://uk.advfn.com/stock-market/london/open-orphan-ORPH/share-news/Open-Orphan-PLC-Collaboration-with-HIC-VAC-and-Wel/83721013 ) and the latter are also involved with BARDA according to the website.
Can't help wonder if it's anything to do with Carb-X: https://carb-x.org/about/overview/ Now wouldn't that be the dream ticket with Bill Gates also involved! :-D
Agree with Mijaed, the markets have been weird for months and it's just sheer panic across the board today, completely illogical when you look at the overall picture - this is a defensive stock ffs! The canny will load up, knowing it's a temporary blip. Just wish I'd delayed my top up for a few hours now.
Timortis, Sentiment on Dark, excellent long-term. General sentiment across the markets today, fearful. SP is holding pretty well here presently all things considered, however I suspect further volatility and bad ML news could feed in. If it falls significantly in the next few weeks it'll be top-up time.
Welcome to the board btw. :-)
SP should be up considerably more. Clearly a bad day for the markets, but good to see blue here and a very good time to top-up. Orph is a good defensive stock to hold in a hot sector, especially with what's in the pipeline. GLA
Great advice Lending, my experience was similar when I began investing and I'm definitely still learning a few years in!
Berylfu, this is a good board and there are a few wise heads on here, don't be afraid to ask anything. I'd echo Lending's advice about doing your own thorough research and starting off with established companies and drip feeding.
There are reasons to be very wary early on, particularly when investing in AIM shares which can be manipulated by traders due to the volatility and low volume of trades. I'd definitely save that for when you're more experienced! :-)
Bladerunner, to be fair, I've never read Max say he's lost, to the contrary, his trades here appear to have been very successful to date! Many traders aren't, but credit where it's due, Max was able to capitalise on the volatility in the SP before the results.
I'm a long-term holder here and I foresee Darktrace going from strength to strength long-term, but I still hold it as part of a diversified portfolio. I think it's a folly for anyone not to tbh, you just don't know what's around the corner.
Morning Charles, Sorry, didn't get a chance to respond to your posts yesterday. By the looks of it this morning I jumped the gun by selling a few too quickly, though I've still got a decent holding, so not too concerned (kicks the wall). A bit of profit taking is usually the wise thing to do! Like HKK I'll be looking out for any drops to load up again.
Please give a warning if you're selling 10% of your holding Charles as that would likely create a temporary dip, LOL.
I sold a 3rd of my holding at 804 with the express hope of buying them back cheaper plus a few extra hopefully. I was thinking about what Max said earlier about buying the dips and it made sense, especially as cash is tied up elsewhere at the moment. I still see this very much as a long-term hold.
Not sure I made the right decision having seen the price we closed on, but it's all a learning curve and a good profit either way, so I remain philosophical! :-)
