On Thursday, December 14th, 2023, the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Timor-Leste will hold the Q4 Technical Meeting (International Conference) in the mining area, presented by Dr. Andy Butler, CEO of SundaGas Mining Company (a subsidiary of Baron Oil PLC Mining Company), which has now become the operator of the Chuditch PSC mining field in Timor-Leste. Chuditch Field is located in the Timor Sea and is currently in the Appraisal phase; discovery, identification, and quantification of oil and gas volumes, prior to entering the development phase. Dr. Andy Butler completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Geology at the University of Oxford. Meanwhile, he finished his PhD in Geology from the University of Cambridge. Dr. Andy Butler is the CEO and Founding Director of SundaGas, which is based in Singapore. Dr. Andy has over 25 years of experience in the mining, energy, technical, and commercial industries, working in Europe, Brazil, North & West Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region. Dr. Andy, along with Senior Geologist Maun Dino Gandara, and SundaGas team, will present the role of SundaGas Mining Company in Timor-Leste and the projects in which SundaGas is involved and investing in for the development of the Petroleum sector in the Timor Sea. The sponsors for the international seminar activity are supported by SundaGas, the Society of Petroleum Engineers Western Australia (SPE WA), and organized by the SPE Timor-Leste structure (UNTL, DIT, UNDIL & UNITAL). Participants and members of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Timor-Leste, students, and professors from the National University of Timor Lorosa'e (UNTL), Dili Institute of Technology (Educated to Serve), University of Dili (UNDIL), and Oriental Timor-Lorosa'e (UNITAL) are invited to participate in the conference. Petrofac, a leading international service provider to the energy industry, has been awarded an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract by ADNOC Gas for its Habshan Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) project, one of the largest carbon capture projects in the Middle East and North Africa region.

The contract is valued at more than US$600 million and involves the delivery of carbon capture units, associated pipeline infrastructure and a network of wells for carbon dioxide (CO2) recovery and injection. Located at the Habshan gas processing plant, 150 kilometres southwest of Abu Dhabi, the project is part of ADNOC’s accelerated decarbonisation plan.

Tareq Kawash, Petrofac's Group Chief Executive, said: “By accelerating plans to make energy cleaner, the UAE is investing in its future. We look forward to combining our CCUS expertise and UAE project delivery experience to support ADNOC Gas in delivering on their decarbonisation plans, maximising energy output while minimising emissions, and helping to support the UAE’s energy transition.”

Eni PSC is big news for TL and for us we are right next door, with NE Chuditch Lead that does need some further 3d I would not be surprised if Eni and Baron join forces on that to share the costs. We have Santos to the left at Bayu and Eni to the right with Woodside at Sunsrise we really are stuck bang in the middle of them all. If we prove up Shells Drill and find more gas at the second well at Chuditch that will not only derisk us but also derisk Block P because they think Chuditich could spill into Sunrise all connected.

Its is very good news shows things are finally happening and block P is right next door to us.

This morning in #dili the #timorleste ANP TIMOR LESTE on behalf of the State and Eni signed a Production Sharing Contract for contract área TL-SO-22-23 (Block P). This marks a significant step for the Timor-Leste upstream sector, with the the Block lying to the South of the #greatersunrise fields operated by Woodside Energy (and in which the Timor-Leste NOC TIMOR GAP, E.P. holds 56.56%) and to the North of the #chuditch field operated by SundaGas and has significant natural gas potential. The signature ceremony was witnessed by H.E. The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Francisco da Costa Monteiro and other senior government ministers.

It was great to have the opportunity of participating in this event and of catching up with so many friends, clients and “sparring partners” from past negotiations.

What would be interesting is if there was a low bid put in for the company shorts have to declare every position then.
