He was also the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Architect of an IT outsourcing group that served one of the Philippine’s leading telecommunications companies.

Pete is the Head of Product Management, based in Hong Kong, and is responsible for the technical and marketing aspects of all MoneySwap products. Pete has almost 20 years of experience mostly spent in financial services. He comes from a strong business analysis and project management background having held senior positions within RBS, ABN Amro, JP Morgan Securities and Nomura. During his career he has worked in roles covering business development and marketing and also run operations and technology teams.

Menzies Distribution, the newspaper and magazine wholesaling division of John Menzies, has extended its contract with Associated Newspapers and COMAG. Under the new agreement with UK publisher, Associated, Menzies will continue to distribute its full portfolio of newspaper and magazine titles. Menzies will also continue to distribute COMAG's portfolio of magazine titles. Both agreements run through to 2020 and together secure some £240m of annual trade sales value. David McIntosh, Managing Director of Menzies Distribution, said: "I am very pleased to have secured terms with Associated and COMAG. "These renewals are a further step in underpinning our core business. We now have contracts with five major publishing groups secured through to 2019 and this allows us to build for the future with confidence."

Positive Points: The decline in same store or like-for-like GM sales has slowed. Whilst UK GM sales fell by 1.6% in Q1, they fell by 3.8% during the fourth quarter of the last financial year. The group's new Autumn/Winter clothing range, compiled by new management appointees, is due to start arriving in stores and online from the end of July (2013) with a full launch in September. The range has received critical acclaim. Group capital (investment) expenditure is expected to be c. £775 million in 2013/2014, a reduction on management's previous guidance (£850 million). The group previously highlighted that 2012/13 marked the peak year of its investment. This appears to signal management confidence in the outlook, with the foundations having now been built. At the last full year results, the CEO noted that "we focused on full price sales and more effective management of markdown, thereby protecting our gross margin." The UK gross margin rose by 0.1%. During the quarter, total UK food sales grew by 4.5%, with like-for-like sales up 1.8%. During the last financial year, food gross margin was up 0.35% to 31.7% due to improved buying and better management of promotional spending. As of its full year results, the sales performance for its new concept stores had been 3% ahead of the rest of the business, an improvement on the initial 2.6% uplift, delivering a 13% internal rate of return, ahead of management's hurdle rate of 12%. Management noted that "M&S.com had a very strong quarter, with customers responding well to the improvements made to the service proposition such as free next day delivery to stores." Online sales expanded by 29.9%. Its new web platform is on track to launch in Spring 2014. A new 900,000 square foot e-commerce distribution centre has been established at Castle Donington. Sales for its International business grew by 8.7% on a constant currency basis. Management commented that "our International business performed well across most of the markets we trade in, especially in our key markets of India, China and the Middle East." The company has on occasion been subject to takeover speculation. The board adopts a dividend policy which remains attractive in the current low interest rate environment, with a yield of over 3.5% as of 9th July (not guaranteed)

Negative Points: Same store sales for its General Merchandise (GM) division continue to fall, down 1.6% over the first quarter. GM sales have now fallen for eight consecutive quarters. UK General Merchandise sales over the last financial year declined by 4.1%. Accompanying management outlook comments noted that "we remain cautious about the outlook and continue to manage the business tightly." Profit for the last financial year fell compared to the prior year. Underlying profit before tax of £665.2 million was reported, down from the prior year's adjusted £687.2 million (reported £705.9 million). A recent new management signing in charge of underwear has already left the company. This may indicate the existence of management tensions. For its International business, management noted that "macro-economic issues in some parts of Europe are still impacting sales." For the last financial year, operating profit for the business declined to £120.2 million (the prior year: £133.4 million). The board previously noted that "our European business was impacted by the ongoing weakness of the Irish and Greek economies." The total dividend for the financial year was left unchanged compared to the previous year. Unlike some rivals, M&S does not have a material online food proposition. Continuing pressure on consumers' disposable income remains a concern for many British retailers.
