@Icarus The only reason I sold - and I have made it clear - is due to the Iran war. If that did not occur I would be invested in YouGov and many other stocks. YouGov is not a robust or a defensive stock in any way shape or form, hence it did no longer met my investment criteria. I am and always will be pragematic in my investments. The Iran war is a game changer. End of story. In times of war and - other major adverse events - cash is always king. BTW thanks for almost leaving me alone.

Where is Graff when you need him?! He was adament his secret saucers said there was a queue of bidders lined up and chomping at the bit ready, willing and able to bid 60p-99p for Wood! @Icarus42 I am replying to posts aimed at me. I merely posted I had sold out of YouGov (a very short and sharp post), and then was attacked for it. I have responded to these attacks. You say I am not to be trusted. Well, take a look at my post history, take a look at when I bought and with what companies. In most instances it is all there. Of course, I am invested in many more companies, but only have time and inclination to post on a few of them.

You say I cannot be trusted. I would say you are sore because I was proven right. I sold at £2.03 and I predicted YouGov would fall further. In other words, I warned others to sell out of YouGov and buy back later. Short term loss for long term gain. Simple stuff. YouGov was down yesterday and down aother 4-5% today. Looks like I was right.

If you do not want me to post to 'defend' myself, then find a new topic other than me to post about. Simple.

You posted the above in order to be critical of my decision to post that I sold out of YouGov yesterday due to the commencement of the Iran war. When you posted the above the YouGov share price was £2.05. The YouGov share price is now £1.95 (at the time of this post). I suppose by your own account this means the market must have 'half a brain'! In my view, the Iran war will get worse and therefore, the stock market will fall further. No amount of wishful thinking from you or anyone else will change that. The Iran war is a game changer. I predict YouGov will fall to circa £1.80, maybe even as low as £1.70.

The only decent share price increase in the bank are companies schedules for a takeover of which John Wood Group Plc is one (up circa 11% today) and fortunately I remain heavily invested in that stock so will bank a very nice profit.

I commend you for staying with YouGov rather than selling out and buying back in when the carnage is over. It takes balls of steel (or complete stupidity). Time will tell who is right - me to sell out at £2.03 with a minor profit or your decision to ride it out. Either way, I hope your decision to stay invested during the Iran war works out for you.

I doubt Wood will rise above 29p. Still, like many, I am happy to wait for the full 30p. The Iran war will continue for a minimum of 3-4 weeks, so other investment options are few and far between. Wood is a done deal. The fat lady has sung loud and proud! Game, set, match Sidara! Well done to those who bought and held for the full 30p payout.

I suppose that burning smell is the last Wood short (DE Shaw) on fire! Lol

Looks like my Scenario 1 has occurred. Profit as good as banked. Thanks Wood for the memories. Thanks Icecool, FroggleBoggles and all the old timers for the chit chat and fun and games. Although as I said at the time - the time to buy or top up massively was prior to suspension at a mere 18p... I still hope everyone here - especially long term holders - were able to top up at some point in order to average down and make a profit no matter how large or small. GLA

@Goose01 FYI I have not been a long term investor in YouGov. I have been invested very recently. I put a small stake in the ground and then I bought massively at £1.98 to £2.01 about a week ago. It's all there in my post history. When I sold I made a minor profit in YouGov. No big deal - if not for the Iran war I would still be in YouGov for 12-18 months. I made far more profit on other investments Mobico (only been invested a month) and Prudential (just over 12 months), but I sold out of those also AM yesterday as well as a few other long term investments like Lloyds. I am always pragmatic when it comes to my investments. When the US is at war the UK can follow. If/when that happens, the UK stock market will take a serious dive. Right now, for me, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush in uncertain times...and these are uncertain times. Defensive stocks and cash is king. I expect the majority stocks to continue a downward spiral as the Iran war continues. If you choose to stay invested in YouGov best of luck. Let's all hope for a quick end to this Iran conflict. In the meantime, I am more than happy to watch events unfold from the sidelines and buy back in when the time is right. GLA

No need to sell Wood at all. Sidara has provided stability to Wood. Therefore I see two possible scenarios:

Scenario 1:

If Sidara buys Wood at 30p, nice profit.

Scenario 2:

If Sidara walks, Wood goes it alone. Lots of opportunities in oil and gas especially after the Iran war, which will have an impact on the wider middle east. Wood's share price will re-rate to 50-60p very quickly.

Either scenario is a winner. IMO

I sold out of Prudential AM today. I bought in at £6.00 over a year back so my profits have been decent. With the Iran war and the events around that, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. I prefer to sell out of the majority of my investments, but have remained invested in 'defensive' stocks (oil, gas, gold, defense, utilities). In times of war, cash is always king. GLA

I sold out of Mobico AM today. I expect the prices of oil to reach new highs, sadly to the detriment of Mobico. I can see a slow and steady decline in Mobico's share price. Good that we had the 30% plus rise last week, so profits banked. I think it is always best to be cautious in times of war until events prove otherwise...wars can escalate or spiral out of control very quickly. I will remain invested in my defensive stocks, equally I am cashed up ready to reinvest when the Iran war has concluded. I plan to reinvest in Mobico at that time. In the meantime, cash is king. GLA

@Icarus42 This LSE platform is laggy - to clarrify, there is no as you say 'rebound'. The YouGov share price closed down today vs Friday's close. I did not panic when I sold, I simply sold. I developed my strategy on Sunday as it was clear how events were unfolding in the Iran war. It will get worse before it gets better. Wars always have a knock on affect across most except the most robust of stocks. I do not view YouGov as a 'robust stock' only as a turn-around stock that is undervalued. However, as the Iran war continues, nervous investors will sell stocks across the board and YouGov will be one of those stocks i.e. slow and gradual decline. When wars occur, defensive stocks and cash is king. IMO & GLA

@Icarus42 You say that YouGov has rebounded. Er, it has closed adown on Friday and closed at £2.05 today. My view on YouGov has not changed as an investment, however, the Iran war is a game changer for me as an investor across many of my investments. You stay invested in YouGov if you like - that is your choice, just as it is my choice to sell out. I see opportunities elsewhere during the Iran war, which is bound to continue for a while yet. We obviously have different attitudes to risk. Further, we see investment opportunities in different areas during such events. End of story. The only investors laughing at the moment are the shorts. Let's all hope for a speedy conclusion to the Iran war (which is bound to have a seriously detrimental affect on the wider middle east) such as US targeted strikes only, and not a US-led troops on ground situation. I am concerned the latter could happen as the US has a history of such escalations and regime changes in the middle east. Time will tell.

@Dartron I sold out on YouGov on the open at 8am in two bulk tranches at 2.03p. My trades were in the first down spike at 8.00am.

My opinion is to sell out of YouGov as well as a few other investments taht are unlikely to prosper during the Iran war. You say the Iran war will be over in a few short weeks?! How do you know that?! You do not know Iran's leaders who will refuse to relent to the west, least of all the US. This could easily lead to a full US invasion of Iran...and last for several months or years. Remember the Iraq war?!

If you stay invested in anything but oil, gas, gold and defense stocks during this Iran war then you have rocks for brains. Either that or you are a naive and inexperienced investor. You are clearly the latter - full of wishful thinking.

I am a pragmatic investor, and I make no excuses for that. It has served me very well over the years.

I expect a slow and steady decline for most stocks while the Iran war plays out.

YouGov can easily fall back to £1.70 or less over the next 1-3 months due to the Iran war. Even then I will not reinvest until the Iran war has been negotiated/completed. At that point, I expect to re-invest in YouGov cheaply, very cheaply...such is life.

Let's see who is right...you who says I am full of it - in which case you must think YouGov's share price will rise thoughout the Iran war! Or me who says play it safe and sell early before the gradual and inevitable decline of YouGov's share price over the next few weeks/months as the Iran takes hold and plays out.

Just sold all my YouGov shares for a minor profit. Iran war and all that. First rule of investment in stocks: Preserve cash in times of trouble. Second rule: Never forget rule 1! I will be back when Iran war settles. GLA!

Interesting times indeed. Sidara walked last time due to uncertain times in the middle east. No deal is certain. Sidara could walk if it is in their interest to do so. In which case the cash injection provided by Sidara to Wood will be converted to a loan. No doubt Wood have planned for such a scenario. Maybe the Wood saga has a little more way to go yet...maybe the fat lady has not sung yet. If Sidara walk, due to the demand for oil and natural resources (Iran war) and the operations around that, Wood's share price will surge to circa 50-60p on an announcement that Sidara walks. Nothing in life is certain, which is why I remain heavily invested in Wood until the very end. IMO & GLA

Bytes market cap circa £680M, revenue circa £217M, share price of £3.04.

YouGov market cap circa £236M, revenue circa £388M, share price of £2.09.

YouGov has far more potential in terms of share price increase based on many factors. In addition, YouGov is probably a takeover target. I will happily remain invested in YouGov all day long for the next 12-24 months. I see some serious potential here - probably a multi-bagger. IMO
