Appears we have a few stocks in common. Can understand why GEM doesn't attract more PI. I can't understand why everyone isn't in on MAGP. I have incredible confidence on mags bullish returns by EoY. Gemfields will giv us a steady climb, which is super.
I suspect the auction sale price was just "okay"... don't forget, this was the delayed auction from Singapore. So they probably threw in a few other gems found in the interim. The Zambians want to maximise their slice of the pie. It's not just about selling stones in my opinion. Zambia can put it's name on the global map by allowing Gemfields to wave the Zambian flag from numerous luxury capital cities. Singapore being one of the favoured cities. I think you're right in what you write.... but, I suspect the country will see sense and allow international trade to commence. Either way, I quite like the feel of Gemfields. The whole investment is quite easy to understand, and I can imagine the company growing from strength to strength. I certainly have an exit desire of around 56p.... is it achievable, who knows....but i've faith.
Ladies and Gentlemen, fasten your seat belts. The train is about to leave the station for a slow and steady ride north. The coming week will have potential stunning views. Stopping at auction results central and sales international. All aboard....
So the auction will have taken place. Results will be known to a chosen few.... next week will be good, i'm sure. http://www.postzambia.com/post-read_article.php?articleId=35617 News due on the auction. News due on Zambia allowing International future auctions.
So, Zambia said that it would decide on Allowing overseas Emerald auctions this week. I suppose that doesn't mean an announcement will be guaranteed to come tomorrow, but everything looks great for next week. We should hear the outcome by then. I suspect Zambia cannot afford to not allow overseas auctions. I also suspect the stipulation will be that at least one auction remains in Zambia. Also, probably next week we will get some news as to exactly how well this past weeks auction has been. Given the Singapore cancellation, I suspect this will have been a strong auction. My rushed and poorly educated view is that anything +15m raised this passed week will be excellent. (Based purely on the 12 auctions previously helds turnover.)
I tend to agree with 547Trader. These forums seem full of "experts" who are so eager to share their profound wisdom. If you've ditched the share, jog on. We are big enough to do our own research, and probably wouldn't rely on the wisdom of a person so willing to retrospectively comment on their wise moves. We all make dynamite stock decisions which sometimes blow up in our favour, and sometimes blow up to our detriment. You're no different base147, as your clear grammatical error lends one to believe! The letter "i" should alas always be in capital. A know it all who errrr doesn't know it all, after all!!!! Booooooom!

I presume it won't be long before a new auction date is set. I can't imagine it's in the Zambian governments interest to sit on such issues, losing themselves money in the process. Does anyone know though if discussions are open between GEM and the Zambian powers? Are they likely to allow future auctions? I have no knowledge as to how sensible a government it is and if they will make a decision based on logic or internal political affairs based on the ego of politicians and not the interests of their country as many goverments worldwide seem to conduct themselves. Anyone with any knowledge of how they operate? JK
