2) by 'our borders', you do realise you signed the Good Friday Agreement acknowledging and supporting an invisible border in Ireland?
3) you do realise that 80% of UK fishing exports are into the EU. If you don't have a trade agreement, good luck selling that fragile product!
4) you do realise that part of your exit bill is to cover previously agreed bills, e.g. the UK portion of the EU R&D bill, which supports collaborative research inside UK's universities

As a joint signatory, the EU are trying to protect the Good Friday Agreement, and now the Withdrawal Agreement.
Do you not see a Westminster pattern here of tearing up international agreements when it suits them.
Brexit was a very bad idea, driven largely by lies, and supported by English nationalism. Neither the people of Scotland or NI supported it. If taking back control is what you were at, then please accept that you have now opened up the possibility of destroying your union.
Of course, nothing here can be predicted, but it seems clear that the democratic rights of Scotland and NI are not being well served by Westminster or English nationalism.
You are probably too far down the road now to back track, so we'll just have to wait and see how this all pans out.

Total piffle Fleccy. The squaring of the Good Friday Agreement and the circle of Brexit was a pipedream from the start. May tried her best to find a compromise but couldn't. BJ and Dom hustled a deal they knew was flawed but got them what they wanted at the time - ie time. Time to get an election on the basis of an 'oven ready meal', which they knew was overcooked.
It is dangerous to mess with unions and now that plates are spinning in the air, the integrity of the union could be the ultimate price of an English people taking back control. The price being, ultimately, taking back control of what exactly?

Fleccy, look at the history to date, from PSTN, ISDN, 2G, 3G and 4G - BT supplied the bit pipes and all of the enabling technology that went with these new innovative connections, while the innovators (eg Google, AWS, FaceBook etc) made all the serious money.
Yes, IoT will be the next enabler but BT will just be the bit pipe that connects the innovators with the users of that enabler. They will have no differentiator, will compete with other bit pipe providers, which will race prices to the bottom
Yes, they are a good cash generating company, but they are not innovators and will have flat revenues for the foreseeable future.
They are still of course cheap but that is more to do with Brexit and value stocks being out of favour currently. They need Brexit out the way and there to be a rotation out of US based growth stocks before their share price will recover.

I totally agree that IoT will be delivering the next generation of innovative technology services Fleccy. What I don't agree is that BT will have the wear with all to exploit this in any meaningful devalue added way, other than of course being the deliverer of the bit pipes that connect other peoples value added services. Hence, the have no differentiator and their business model doesn't allow them to generate anything other than flat revenue connectivity fees.

Ultimately this is a utility company, heavily constrained by regulators. It has a healthy enough cash generating business but nothing other than that.

The problem I see with your argument Fleccy is that BT just further enhances its position as a bit pipe provider, with flat revenue streams and no way of providing any really value added services. The AWS type service providers clean up in your scenario and the over the top service providers absolutely go meteoric. Poor old BT is left behind by having universal infrastructure provision constraints, which are additionally constrained by having no monopolistic position because they jave to open up their expensively deployed infrastructure to the competition at highly constrained rates! It doesn't look too good. The only area I can offer some optimism here is potentially with MEC based services, where the mobile operator might be able to exploit a monopolistic competitive advantage in the 5G world. But that will require innovative thinking and agility, something which they haven't shown a great deal of to date!!

There will be no movement upward in the FTSE while the UK's Brexit neck is hovered over by the proverbial sword of Damocles. No deal and sword swipes off the neck and the FTSE tumbles. If there is a deal, well that's a different story altogether, but not looking likely.....

Nitro, I totally agree but you title is very slightly ambiguous, if you don't mind me saying. I think "Would UBS still be in there if a deal wasn't going to happen?" might be clearer!

Brookkers, if your take is correct then surely once those shares being sold at above 22.5p are gone, that removes the 22.5p floor and allows therefore a weakness for the share price to drop, not increase, as other posters have suggested. I don't buy it myself. Seems to me the 22.5p floor has now been created by the initial placing and we will just tread water around this price until the next significant RNS.

Same here Ferg. The others appear to be saying that EUA have released these placing for sale on the open market. My understanding was that we had sold these shares in a closed market deal for 22.5p. It would make no sense that the buyer of these shares would then sell at today's open market prices. Of course, they are completely free to do so, but it just makes no financial sense!

Covid is probably at least six months before there is a fix. If you are waiting for a fix from Brexit, good luck with that one. UK will take at least a generation to recover from that madness.

I do agree with you though that BT are ridiculously low but only in the context of a reversal to this AIM bull market. If you feel that is about to reverse anytime soon, then accumulate and weight for your boat to rise....

Is this not all down to where the markets are currently? It seems to be a bear market for value stocks and a bull market for AIM stokes currently.
Until this trend reverses, stocks like BT, no matter how they perform, will remain in doldrums territory.
That of course makes them fair game and open for takeover. I just can't see that will be allowed with BT, so not expecting this SP downward spiral to stop anytime soon....
