Joy. Not the best write up. LSE, can you please only post good news as I don't like to read negative articles ;)
Only thing to say that brings a bit of comfort on this is the reporter has consistently reported on the fss and the positive Scotland based bid. I.e I think there's a bit of a slant in his reporting against any foreign connection with the bid by always quoting Scottish unions. I once contacted him to remind him that team resolute was 2 3rds British.
In any case, we really should not be providing anyone with any ammo for negative headlines. Poor again from the BOD. Gla
Ok I've speed read the article by pressing back and clicking the article again many times (how dedicated am I? Haha)
This is a none issue. The article states both WUP's have been resolved! Or have I missed something?
I've also searched for the notices on the gazette and can find nothing currently active.
So am I being stupid or is the article doing a bit of clickbait tactics? If the latter there is no reason for the company to be issuing an rns
I finally bit the bullet and tried to subscribe to the torygraph in order to see the article but alas, the site doesn't want my £1 for the 3 month trial! Can anyone copy and paste the article please? Or give us more of the jist? Ime. How much is supposedly owed? If accurate it's very concerning that the company have let this drag on since the RNS first made us aware. Gla, we clearly need it lol
Wow LSE a brilliant link buddy thanks! To my knowledge this is the very first time kwasi has mentioned gas storage, having dismissed it over the course of the huge gas price increases pre Ukraine war. We all know it's needed, now he thinks it too
However little the comment may be, this is a big shift in govt attitude. Well done again LSE! Tide might be turning :)
"we cannot escape the fact that as geopolitics has changed – so must we.
And that’s why we are exploring domestic gas storage options carefully."
Gla
It sounds like an exciting investment!! However experience of gas cavern red tape means I'm gonna stay away from ukog :p plus the CEO is even far worse than JW. However it will be fascinating to see how the development compares to ours in terms of speed of progress. Two Motos I now have. Never put money in northern Ireland companies, and never invest in anything connected to SS. Gla :)
LSE thanks for posting, to add to stokies reply (not stalking you honest Stokie! :D ) cammell laird are also represented as well as BMT and Thales (northern Ireland). I looked at the list in hope of seeing a h&w rep but alas there is none.
I think the reality check for me is that we are not yet at the races. We are not shipbuilders and until we are we cannot be at the trough of these tables of influence. We are a minnow hoping to get a contract or 2 thrown our way from government. Once this happens and if we do a good job then we will be able to challenge the monopoly of bae etc. This is going to take a number of years to achieve I feel.
In the meantime, we have the other 4 sectors to hopefully return us some value. Gla :)
Lol, very good Stokie :D not sure to laugh or cry with the joke. The fss is badly needed and has been for a few years now. It highlights the slow workings of the MOD and a lesson I take from it is never believe a timeframe for that sector.
Re your other point, I am cynically inclined to believe the same. The monopoly of bae and Bab with cammell laird being the lib dem equivalent will be extremely difficult to break. Time will tell if JW's vision will be achieved but it's a flip of the coin at the moment
Morning all
A bit of a clarification for you Stokie re the £1.5 billion FSS. Preferred bidder will be announced in Q4 22 with formal contract in Q2 23 according to navylookout.
I think the mod contract to be announced by early q3 is the m55 conversion for Lithuanian navy. This tender is between £40 and 50 million for 2 years work.
Finally the national flagship @ £250 million - design is expected to be announced before the jubilee (time running out for that one!) With winner announced in Q4 22. This is a two horse race between us and cammell laird.
Obviously results are as expected and known for sometime. Aside from the above it was good to hear of the MOU's for the scotwind projects.
Disappointed on the detail of the gas storage as I thought more could have been added around preliminary work - eg I'm sure we have to do an application for license to the gas authority? Has that been done? If not when? Etc
Other noteworthy point from me. My calcs are JWs salary is set to be 401k this year with Arun a close second. In other words, they are becoming extremely wealthy and should be buying a lot more shares! To not do so leads me to believe they don't have confidence in what they are trying to achieve. Gla and hope all are well
Thanks for the update Lottie, much appreciated. Especially given the long journey! I'm glad it has boosted your optimism too which speaks volumes, although there's no chance I'd let you have the company (and my shares!) until I break even. 60 mill should do it :p
I have a question around the gas storage. Did you get a sense that much is going on in the background or are they sat on their hands until the JR outcome? I'm hoping it's very much the former as I see no reason why the additional applications etc can't be done now. I will be disappointed without a heavy update in the years update due imminently. Thanks again and hope your confidence gets reflected in the SP soon

It was a big ask but raises more questions on the ability to strike a deal. Hoping for an in-depth update on islandmagee when we get the yearly results! Gla
Hi all, I think we know the annual results aren't going to be the greatest but if there was a leak the volume would be much greater than the 200k at time of writing. This is a ridiculous drop on low volume. Gla, we certainly need it!
Weird question to ask BP, I don't play golf.
Stokey, I understand and share your views. As ever, time will tell how good the team is at striking deals. I'd give them 1 or 2 out of 10 at the mo. Gla

Sounds successful in booking cruise liner dockings in the coming months. Interesting to read a shift in strategy moving away from new build to major refits. Still tens of mills in value in those contracts.
My take is this is a shift away from new build cruise, not new build ships on a whole (fss for example). Navantia and BMT will hand hold us til we are up to speed and can take on new builds on our own. Gla
Exactly Si, appledore is well suited for all 3 of the vessels. Thinking about it I think there's a possibility the ships get given to more than one company (to increase turnaround time) so that would increase our chances of getting at least something

This link contains a link to a leaflet pdf that had previous timeframes within it. So potentially we could see a decision in autumn 2022 if no further delays. No doubt there's lots of room for further project slippage
