It seems I could be accused of being a deramper these days, believe me I certainly don't want to be given the money still invested here! The original award of contract did include us as part of Bab****s consortium. However I read somewhere that once we fell into administration our involvement ceased. From Bab****s perspective, we then came out of administration with the intention of being a friendly disruptor of the ship building duopoly, particularly with the team resolute set up. So Bab**** then decided to close off our involvement. Therefore Bab**** will not be giving us any work on the type 31 in my opinion. To do so would be assisting a potential rival of future contracts. Hope to be proven wrong but I'm not expecting any work from Bab**** or bae unless they are told to by the government
Thanks Stokey, only 3 weeks to wait then to try and stop the rot.
I hope they are onto it as we speak. My shares in all other companies are taking a hammering at the moment. Aside from further contract wins, an rns to announce first receipt of revenue from Saipem is a must in my view (once it arrives)
Does anyone know the parameters for companies being allowed to issue a 'we see no reason why the share price is dropping' type of rns? I've certainly been in a few shares where the nomad has told them to issue it when the sp is going up for unknown reasons. This is truly depressing. Where are the maintenance contract wins? Belfast workers must be getting nervous. I know there's a cruise ship in at the mo but it seems to be relatively small work. Re any leaks, maybe...but certainly not the ml in my opinion. The protestors would leak it all over twitter in an instant
Thanks for sharing Chris. The most frustrating (well at least one of many) thing is Poots has been all over twitter launching other consultations and I think to myself, what's the point when you can't even be bothered to make a decision on consultations that ended months back. Time and again he is planting a tree (nothing wrong with that really), or visiting a farm or 10. He needs to focus on his inbox rather than traveling up and down the country in my view. Anyways, back to the bottom draw I now return....gla
Reference to m55 project is interesting - 40 to 50 mill conversion contract of a minehunter being bought by Lithuania. I hadn't seen any reference to this previously. Gla
Lol! If you personally help secure rns-able contracts Si, you can have her for free. In fact I'd also buy you a pint :p
Time will tell if you are correct BP, evidently the noises from the shipping tsar give us all at least a glimmer of hope we'll get something. And I think navantia would gladly assist in building the fss. A small piece of a pie is better than none at all. To answer oldtramp, I'd sell my granny to get anything and everything from as many sectors as possible for reason's Stokey put far more succinctly than I :)
Hi Stokey hopefully this link works..
https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/bab****-to-enhance-ukrainian-naval-capabilities/
UK defence journal and navy lookout are well worth a follow on Twitter. I too hoped the Ukrainian builds could come our way but it's not looking great
Sorry, thanks to Chris too :)
Sorry to put a downer on such a positive ;) day...the Ukraine boats are being built by Bab****. At least we got a mention by the shipping tsar, thanks for sharing Stokey
Chris, I emailed DAERA a couple months back, they said the decision is now in the hands of Mr Poots. I then contacted his office who explained that there is much to sift through and we will know when we know. Fact is it shouldn't be taking this long - NI isn't seemingly in favour of economic progress. Some say never invest in Africa, I'm starting to think the same about Northern Ireland! And while we wait the sp reaches lower lows, the only thing preventing me from selling big chunks of my holding is a potential bounce in sp when revenue start's coming in from the wind farm work. In all honesty I am feeling like for whatever reasons h&w are missing out on a lot of their targeted pipeline (why is Belfast so empty after 20 months since purchase?) and I'm reassessing my investment here sadly
Hi Stokey mstgroup global based in Liverpool are building them I think
One that got away or something outside of our pipeline? Interested in views. Would be interested to know when the tender occurred. Seems would have been a great fit for appledore

Definitely a trouble maker Stokey :D I read the Bab**** submission last week, in essence "nothing to see here guvnor" move on. By all accounts everything is Rosey and the status quo is fine! Of course it would be for them as they are getting the lions share of contracts currently. Good to see more purchases today from the bod but I feel more are needed to give investors confidence again. This blummin ML decision is doing my head in! And good luck to the hydrogen company, it'll be 20 years away if they have to deal with any NI govt departments
Have to admit I have been a bit gloomy about infa recently, in line with Nobby and tango amongst others. Tonight has topped the biscuit. I haven't a clue who, if anyone, told them that such pitiful purchases was a good idea. Frankly they are taking the p_ss. At worst it's a middle finger to us, at best it shows a complete misunderstanding of the market and investor sentiment to make such a derisory purchase. I continue to think infa will do well, but at what cost to us PI's I haven't a clue
What a little legend you are Stokey, well done on sharing this. About to read h&w's. It's great to understand clearly what our competitors believe too...no harm in keeping an eye on the competition and these provide their strategic viewpoints. I too read Michael's effort. Well done to that man ;)
Thanks for your reply Stokey, that's clarified things but I echo ttny...it doesn't make sense in my head to only give support for exports (aside from the obvious). Further research is needed my thinks. Re fsru, pretty sure at the roadshow they stated it was not yet economically viable so it's on the shelf for now. Great turnaround time for the yaught....saves waiting an age for the outcome!
Ttny what a great bit of research you have done, thank you. This is precisely the type of support I expect from government. Key questions arise from this. Did we meet the criteria for this regarding the recent Saipem contract? Did the bod apply? If so why was it rejected? If not then why the eff not? If they didn't apply and criteria was met then heads should roll, starting at the top. To choose a placing rather than government support would make a lot of, if not all us, PI's pretty angry.
That's always a possibility setanta. However in the case of h&w I don't feel that. Particularly as Boris came to appledore in person. They may also think that if we were on the brink of collapse, but we are not. Therefore government support at this time or any time since we bought belfast would in my view be at much lower risk than a bailout. Hope you are keeping well
