BOLZANO . You can redo the asphalt of the streets using a "green" and "intelligent" bitumen . To support it is the Italian company in the Iterchimica sector, which in a stretch on the provincial road 62, near Bolzano, will experience for the first time in South Tyrol a product capable of preventing the formation of potholes , cutting maintenance costs, without pollute thanks to an eco-sustainable solution.
In fact, in the Laimburg area, the chemical company intervened in the flooring works using the Gipave product, developed with the collaboration of Directa plus, G.Eco and the University of Milan Bicocca . This solution consists of a polymeric super modifier containing graphene and specially selected plastic , for an all-Italian product capable of resisting atmospheric agents and improving the performance of the asphalt.
The its ecological nature is at the Center of Studies of the University Bicocca , which deals with the analysis environment, while the Italian patent application of the new technology, which occurred in late 2017, has already been successful in Italy and in Europe.
"We often hear about the roads only in the negative because of potholes or traffic - explains the managing director of Iterchimica Federica Giannattasio - but not everyone knows that already today it is possible to create green, high-tech, highly resistant, eco-sustainable and 100% flooring % recyclable, thanks to a made in Italy technology. Five years ago, taking advantage of a call from the Lombardy Region, we started studying and designing a graphene additive in our laboratories and testing its effects on asphalt with impressive results in terms of duration and increase in the useful life of the flooring ".
" To date we have built 7 test fields on the Italian territory and in the United Kingdom and we have already obtained excellent results from the tests carried out on the SP103 Ardeatina (Rome) and on the SP35 Milano-Meda which confirm the effectiveness of Gipave - he continues - the new plant production at the Suisio (BG) site this year has allowed the placing on the market of a product that contributes to achieving the objectives set by the Green and Circular Economy and by the minimum environmental criteria. Gipave is in fact 100% recyclable and allows the recovery of a specific type of plastic that would otherwise be destined for waste-to-energy plants. Moreover, the increase in the duration of the roads contributes to preventing the formation of holes with a consequent decrease in ordinary and extraordinary maintenance, reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions into the atmosphere ".
