Fordm, 3rd jab will be needed as the vaccines wane over time. May need a 4th jab who knows, covid will be here for quite some time. 11 to 17 year old should get vaccinated or alternatively they develop natural immunity. Either way it will lower the UK case numbers. Some countries may decide to base their border policies on anothers covid prevalence, eg. today it was Morocco tomorrow it could be the USA or Canada or etc. GLA.
Robbren58, if the US were to exclude UK passengers from entering it would certainly put a cat amongst the pigeons. The UK gov need to get more 11 to 17 year olds vaccinated, only approx 15% jabbed which is where the high case numbers are occurring. 3rd booster jab is a must.GLA.
Emeraldcarrots, IMO the reason for the SP decline today is the consistently high UK covid cases & new delta sub variant. Whole market has been spooked, see tui, ezj, wizz, nex, ssp, Mars, etc. Oil price & heathrow charges are added niggles which do not help the aviation travel sector especially iag. GLA.
"Y is this tanking!!!"
Jet fuel costs are increasing. GLA.

coolebenji, I am expecting the US Gov to provide an Intl opening date sometime in the 3rd week of Oct. This week coincides with the Canada & Mexico border extension renewal or end. Potentially they could pencil in a 1st Nov opening, either way like you said sometime November it will be open. Sooner the better, been far too long. GLA.
Another indication of the travel sector returning to 'normal' times. Takes some of the worry out of making that trip. Last call for 200+.

Maybe wait & see is the best option for now, or alternatively fortune favours the brave. Decisions, decisions.

Unite, which represents cabin and floor crew, which may even be affected, have but to agree to the reforms.
If the adjustments get the go-ahead, BA intends to run up to 17 Airbus A320 plane out of Gatwick subsequent summer season. It stopped operating short-haul flights from the Sussex airport due to the pandemic.

It is not going to be ready to service routes to Sub-Saharan Africa or throughout the Atlantic, The Daily Telegraph understands.
BA’s spokesman stated: “Existing BA pilots could have the selection of becoming a member of the brand new subsidiary, there isn’t a requirement for them to go away the mainline business. We hope the pilot neighborhood select to assist this proposal, creating jobs and preserving the BA short-haul model at Gatwick.

' AMERICANS TRAVELING TO EU WILL FACE NEW COVID CURBS AS US SET TO BE REMOVED FROM ‘SAFE TRAVEL’ LIST'?

Maybe the delay in opening to the US is the cause of the SP drop. Found the story below on the daily telegraph portal.
Hopes for US holidays are fading due to fears that Britons who received the AstraZeneca vaccine could be effectively barred from the country.
The US is yet to approve the jab administered to millions of Britons, which could potentially prove a huge barrier to travel once the nation reopens to UK holidaymakers.
The World Trade & Tourism Council (WTTC) has urged the US to recognise the vaccine to help revive transatlantic travel. Virginia Messina, WTTC senior vice president, said: "It's crucial the US authorities step forward to formally approve the AstraZeneca vaccine as a matter of urgency to enable cross-border mobility.
"Unless they give it the green light then the US will effectively remain closed to the vast majority of UK visitors and the many millions around the world who are double-jabbed with the AstraZeneca vaccine."
Elsewhere, Aer Lingus has delayed the launch of its US services from Manchester. Flights to New York and Orlando were due to start form the end of September but have been pushed back to December due to ongoing restrictions. Virgin Atlantic has pushed back the restart date for its Heathrow-Las Vegas flights to mid-September, while tour operator Tui has scrapped most of its US packages right through October.
The US remains on the UK’s amber list – Transport Secretary Grant Shapps is due to announce the latest changes to the Government’s traffic light system this week.
Just been confirmed, US extends Mexico & Canada border restrictions. Cannot see the US opening to the eu & UK until October now. GLA. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-extends-travel-curbs-canada-mexico-land-borders-through-sept-21-2021-08-20/
Looking like October now for US opening.

Excerpt below from the economist Aug 14 .
Most covid-19 travel restrictions should be scrapped
"Today’s travel restrictions are supposed to protect natives from imported covid. Yet they do a poor job of it. A few countries, mostly islands and dictatorships, have managed to keep out the virus through truly draconian restrictions. Even this has come at a cost in terms of reducing pressure to be vaccinated quickly. Only 21% of New Zealanders over 12 are fully vaccinated, for example, compared with 68% of Britons. Countries that put their faith in isolation are thus finding it hard to reopen.
Most countries have land borders and voters. For them isolation was never feasible. Instead, they have adopted a confusing, illogical mess of rules. America bars travellers from Britain and the European Union, its closest allies and trade partners, and also two of the most vaccinated big places in the world, while admitting those from South-East Asia, where the Delta variant is rampant.
Once a variant of the virus has started to spread in the local population, infections double every couple of weeks. Entry bans make very little difference to the total caseload.
Keeping the borders closed after everyone who is willing to get vaccinated has been, does very little good, and the virus will eventually reach everyone.
The US rules of banning Europeans arriving directly from Europe but allowing them to enter after spending two weeks in countries such as Mexico or Turkey has zero base in science."
Nzonze, glad you enjoyed the link. I thought it similar to the ongoing climate debate & all the misinformation, fiction & bad science presented as fact. All done in a very believable manner & also reminiscent of the Orson Welles 'War of the Worlds' radio broadcast. Hysteria & enviromental fervour whipped up & fuelled with the assistance of mainstream media.
Scarily in my view & more so than the helvetica scenario are the enviromental fundamentalist followers, they remind me of the witchfinder generals of yesteryear.
Do not share this link with Al Gore.

I expect a Whitehouse travel announcement on the US border in the week leading up to 21 August. This is the date the US extended its border restriction policy with Canada. Canada opens its border with the US on 9th August, if the US cases flatten out or reduce maybe the US will reciprocate this & open to Canada on the 21st Aug. Canada first then the UK & EU opening. Still looking at sometime in Sept for the US to open its border to the EU & UK.IMO. GLA.
