Given the explanation from Kingrav this makes the 2023 dividend reinstatement & subsequent quick withdrawal all the more incredulous. WTAF were they thinking, or were they even doing that?

Indeed National Express has a lot of destinations. But does the driver know where the bus is headed to, or was supposed to head towards? After all the driver is trusted to steer the bus in the right direction. Failing to do so would mean they & passengers would be lost. Should or do we need to get a different driver, or can we get to where we need to be with this one? Does the driver need a map?

Where are we going?

To be honest I would be content with a MCG trading update with no profit warnings/impairments, etc. No surprises & the business is progressing in line with guidance. Positive news on the potential NA sale would also be welcome.

Need to shake off some of the barnacle like shorts. It’s been a relentless decline over recent years & we could do with a break/change in fortune.

The ‘when’ is doing a lot of the heavy lifting in the above. Macros will change in the near future, but the management idk. A lot is riding on the new CFO.

No panic or bed wetting from me, just expressing a view mostly born from frustration with the companies performance over recent years. This is from someone who initially invested in NEX when the SP was above 250p. Then averaged down thinking MCG had turned a corner when the dividend was reinstated & again after the dividend was removed. Currently down about 65-70% on my holding, waiting for the uptick. Waiting.

I hope there is no need for RI. Interest rates were expected to have fallen already, but the cuts have not yet been made. As the year has progressed the cuts have been kicked down the road. From what I have read the ECB is now likely to cut in June, then BOE in August & the Fed maybe Oct/Nov.

Should MCG announce yet another profit warning/impairment etc with no NA sale on the horizon, what then?

Your analysis is spot on. Should a RI be required, and I really hope it’s not, the current CEO will to have resign. He’s pretty much f**ked as it is, but who would invest in the company with him still at the helm post RI?

I suspect the drop today was less sentiment & more market driven, i.e. it knowing something we don’t (see the continued open short positions). Could it just be the highly likely pending ftse250 exit, short manipulation, or something more? Please not the latter.

It is my view that the IAG SP will reach 200p at some point this year with or without a dividend reinstatement. IMO the dip here today has more to do with the EasyJet results/CEO news. A knock on effect & an opportunity to add pending the eventual rise to 200. BUY.

I think the 25th July is the next scheduled trading update, not sure what the SP will be then. Recent performance has left me somewhat bemused, really not sure what to expect next. Once bitten twice shy.

Whilst the debt here is still high, it is in the main being addressed. Also for the quiet Q1 period the results are not bad & there is no reason to expect a deterioration in performance over the remaining trading year. So all being well I would expect a slow gradual rise in the SP, plodding steadily upwards slowly. And there is still the potential dividend reinstatement at some point in the near future, (end of year perhaps?). It’s a BUY from me.

Rightly or wrongly I had attributed the short increases here to the MCG pending/highly probably FTSE250 exclusion. Apart from Cosmen & Callendar where are the director buys?

You beat me to it JG68, look like MW increased their short to 1% FFS. Hope the new CFO can work a miracle here.

If there is any mention of the dividend re introduction, I would estimate 196p. But would be more than happy to see it finish higher.

It would be reassuring to see some large director purchases. Recent buys from Simon Callendar & the Cosmen affiliates, why no others? It might begin to restore some confidence & change the sentiment here if they were to do so. SP could certainly do with a boost. Anyway good luck with your investment here, hope it fares better than mine.

The shorters here have often been a prelude to a leg down in the sp. Unfortunately more often right than wrong with this share. Probably the likely FTSE250 expulsion a factor in their increase. Hopefully nothing else, right?

CFO James Stamp rightly had to go, but next in line is Garat. He is also culpable & accountable for the recent & present business performance. Garat & Stamp were singing from the same hymn sheet & the market saw right through their BS. Further guidance misses will not be tolerated & Garat is running out of road. Will give credit when & where it is due but atm Garat has lost my confidence & I would certainly vote for a replacement. I sincerely hope the new CFO can turn things around as I too am also underwater here.

Dread to think where this SP would be if the Cosmens & Co had not been purchasing? No doubt Grant & Stamp would or should have been long gone had they not been doing so. Anyway here we are now waiting…waiting….waiting for a turnaround or a takeover. Hopefully the new CFO will steer the company fortunes to prosperous waters. If not Grant has got to be the next out. GLA
