Right questions wrong answers, see links below. UK gov OTT at the moment, Indian variant has spooked them. Totally risk averse now. Sorry but the un vaccinated population should not be allowed to compromise the health & economy of the nation. What happened to Boris allowing the nation to start living with covid?

Concerning to hear Govt is entertaining the delay of the 21 June unlocking - causing massive problems for many people’s livelihoods - because some people won’t have a jab.
Wider society’s fate can’t be sealed by the actions of a small group of people, whatever their reasoning.
Questions in House of Commons today.
Jeremy Hunt
Many of the new variants come from abroad, so clarity on borders policy is essential. We now know that the first wave was largely seeded by people coming back from their spring holiday break in Italy, France and Spain, so will my right hon. Friend provide absolute clarity on the amber list? Should my constituents in Farnham, Godalming and Haslemere—indeed, all our constituents—go on holiday to countries on the amber list even when it is no longer illegal?
Matt Han****
The answer is no. The official Government advice is very clear that people should not travel to amber or red-list countries or territories. People should not travel to amber-list countries for a holiday. What is on the amber, red and green lists is kept under review, based on the data assessed by the Joint Biosecurity Centre. Our priority is protecting the progress we have made at home. We will assess whether any new countries might go on to the green list every three weeks and, of course, we constantly monitor to check that the countries on the green list remain safe. If a country is not on the green list, people should not travel there unless they have an exceptional reason.
Greg Clark
Does my right hon. Friend agree with Sir Patrick Vallance, who told my Committee that new variants will arise all the time and that border restrictions will only slow, not prevent, those variants that originate overseas? What level of vaccination protection do we need to get to in this country before my right hon. Friend is in a position to rescind the rather strange advice that he has just given to my right hon. Friend the Member for South West Surrey (Jeremy Hunt) and allow people who have been tested three times and quarantined for 10 days to travel to places such as France and Spain?
Matt Han****
Typically my right hon. Friend asks the most pertinent question, to which we do not know the answer. The level of vaccination that we need in order to withstand the incursion of new variants, even those that the vaccine will work against, depends on their level of transmissibility, and we do not know the increased level of transmissibility over and above that of B117, the previous main variant here in the UK, which was first discovered in Kent. This is an absolutely critical question, but unfortunately we do not know the answer to it yet.

Thanks for the info Red_inky.
I agree the prospects for RR are good, exciting opportunites with the Ultrafan & potential new business with Boeing concerning a new aircraft design. I am just trying to get a feel for which airlines to monitor for indications of an uptick in revenue. I also know RR are involved in a multitude of other military, nuclear, marine, etc industries. Hopefully the aviation business will be flying full thrust in the very near future . GLA. LTH
Thank you for taking the time to reply Red_inky. Would it be correct to say the American based airlines do not use RR engined planes in their long haul fleets (e. g. dreamliner & 777's) or if they do it it a small percentage. I have read the A350 are all RR engines, but the 787 & 777 are sold with an optional engine configuration. Would it be fair to assume the middle east, east Asian & European long haul fleets use a higher % RR engined aircraft in their fleets? Thanks again.
Red_inky, 'But Rolls-Royce engines do not go from UK to Portugal'
I am a new investor in RR with a small holding at 103.8p. Can you tell me which routes/airlines are the most profitable for RR revenue streams? Thanks in advance. LTH. GLA.
Tick Tui off the list big-blue.
Speaking to reporters, Tui’s chief executive, Fritz Joussen, said: “Mallorca is on the same [infection] level as the UK, so what is the problem?
“Other countries are booking significantly better now and I’m hoping the UK will catch up.”
His warning echoed another last week from the easyJet chief executive, Johan Lundgren, that the best accommodation in Europe could be booked by travellers from other countries.
Simon Calder adding some humour to the UK government's green travel list, see below. Gotta laugh, list is a bit of a joke.
'Mordor is a late addition to the green list, being slightly more accessible than the South Sandwich Islands.
Rumours that Ryanair plans flights from Stansted, though they will actually touch down in Gondor (known as Mordor West).
Narnia also on the cards for the next green list.'
Travel industry should push for a granular approach to include islands in the green list, e.g. Canaries, Balaerics, Greek Islands. Disappointing, but hopefully the lists will change quickly over the coming weeks/months ahead under the review process. Expect the US to be added very soon.
GREEN LIST IN FULL
Portugal, Israel, Gibraltar, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Brunei, the Falkland Islands, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Ascension Islands, Tristan da Cunha and St Helena, along with South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands
Pasted below is a tweet from the Paul Charles Agency twitter account. Reading between the lines the US may be announce a reciprocal UK US corridor. Really hope this is the case. GLA
'I understand that the reason for a 5pm press conference to announce the traffic lights is because it is 12 midday Washington time and enables the #USA to also announce a green re-opening. More to follow.
@ThePCAgency'
Big-blue, yes I think the S. African variant may be the cause. I have copied a segment from the D. Mail article below.
There are currently 1,068 active Covid cases in the Seychelles, of which a third have been detected in people given two doses of either AstraZeneca's or China's Sinopharm's vaccine.
It unclear what has triggered the surge in cases but testing has detected the South African variant spreading on the islands.
Scientists believe the mutant strain can evade immunity and make jabs up to 30 per cent weaker at preventing infections — but they think Western vaccines should still stop people falling severely ill if they get infected.
There is more doubt about how well Chinese-made vaccines work because Beijing has refused to publish full data from trials. Chile has suffered a devastating second wave, fuelled by the Brazilian variant, despite vaccinating half its population with at least one dose of a different Chinese jab, called CoronaVac.
Southerncross,
'Seychelles closes schools to fight a 'critical' surge in Covid cases despite being the most vaccinated nation in the world after receiving shipment of Chinese shots', headline from the Daily Mail.
Chinese vaccine approx 50% efficacy. China have thus far refused to release the trial data. Thanks china.
Repyyrr, Nearly seven million people in the United States have received Johnson & Johnson shots so far........ six US recipients developed a rare disorder involving blood clots within two weeks of getting the jab. Thus far 1 death has been recorded, 1 other hospitalised in a critical condition. The stats are similar to the Astra jab. Put in perspective, I would take my chances with either J&J or Astra to mitigate the risk of contracting covid virus. I hope the actions taken by the various global health authorities over the last couple of months has not not deterred too many people from being vaccinated.
Death from drink 0.5 litres of wine 1 in 1,000,000
Chance of dying from blood clot caused by AstraZeneca vaccine 1 in 1,000,000
Chance of being hit in your home by a crashing aeroplane 1 in 250,000
Chance of getting blood clot from AstraZeneca vaccine 1 in 250,000
Drowning in the bath in the next year 1 in 685,000
Death from receiving general anaesthetic 1 in 100,000
Death from giving birth 1 in 12,500
Think the drop was due to US pausing use of Johnson & Johnson vaccine

The global taskforce report is a disappointing read & is a blow to my expectations as to how quickly the UK travel industry can recover (or is being allowed to). The traffic light system gives no consideration to the vaccination status of the passenger. The report only mentions that the NHSX is currently developing an electronic & paper certificate which might be used for potential future travel requirements. IATA have a travel pass already being trialled by the major international airlines, why not use that? The proposed traffic light system should be modified to at least allow vaccinated persons to skip the PCR test requirement for 'green' status countries. Also I really hope the Joint BioSecurity Centre continue with a granular approach on the country risk assessment, icing on the cake if they don't. IMO a PCR test for every UK arrival is OTT. Where applicable the vaccination success should be used to remove restrictions. UK gov have dithered, U turned & gone from one extreme to the other over the course of this pandemic & in some cases are now being overly cautious based on pessimistic data modelling. The American regulators have opened up their domestic aviation routes with few restrictions, maybe the USA will adopt a similar approach to US international routes & the UK will reciprocate. UK covid infections, hospitalisation & deaths are all falling & we should start co-existing with the covid virus ASAP. On the bright side the SP held up well today & Shapps did not advise against booking a getaway. LTH, GLA.
