Manx ; obviously in 2005, Soco sold block 19 to PC, and at the peak in 2015 90% of the 24,000 bopd produced in Mongolia came from blocks 19 and 21.
In 2003 the average price of oil was 30 USD and in 2004 38 USD. Admittedly it rose quite a lot in 2005, however the price volatility didn't stop PC from buying block 19. Over 20 to 25 years these things can even out anyway. If a field only lasted say 5 years then it might be different.
The Saudis need about 90 dollars a barrel to balance their budget, so this drive to increase market share can only last so long.
