Doc ; I did say that there are two tactics they use - the other being pump and dump. Look at a 10 year monthly Matd chart and you will see a series of pump and dump spikes. Right now that's not happening though.

That's why you have an American day trader who over about 7 years has gone from starting capital of 500 Dollars to 13m Dollars in profit through trading on Nasdaq news catalysts and basically scalping the pump part of a pump and dump. And that's been the way to make a lot of money on Matd to date - someone on here said yesterday that that's excatly what they have done. And that's why on any sign of a decent spike I will sell a large chunk.

And that's exactly why it's more logical to think that it's the professional money that's doing the selling ie MMs/their trading desks buying off retail on the bid and then dumping for profit on the ask. I believe this and their pump and dump price spike tactic are their two main trading tactics. They are both very effective.

Researchandhold ; there is indeed fatigue that has set in. Unfortunately I started out stupidly just buying shares and not paying any attention to charts for most of the time I have held the shares.

Really all along I should have just gone by charts and sold out on the various pump and dump spikes which had been happening every now and again since 2019. And then waited for an obvious support/accumulation phase and maybe dipped back in. Or just waited for the raises which with hindsight were patently obvious in terms of them being imminent in the near future.

The main thing is to learn lessons and move on.

If you watch micro-cap Nasdaq stocks day in day out then you will find out that pump and dumping is usually the way with these types of shares. You will get a news catalyst followed by a large upwards price spike, and then very often a sudden jack-knife back down again. And all in the space of an hour or two.

For years the Matd share price was a series of pump and dump spikes with the in between periods being a settling back down to support at between say 1.5p to 2.5p. So the question is - why is there seemingly no more significant pump and dumping activity going on since the raise ?

Doc ; the takeover might be from Petrovis, though MATD is actually a subsidiary of the Petrovis Group.

Jojoba ; that's the million Dollar question. Take a look at a monthly chart on say Barchart dot com. Matd has periodically spiked consistently over that period with little prospect of any immediate production, and with no land access. The last noticeable spike happened on 30th May this year when it went to 5.4p. Since he raise it has stayed in a 2p- 3.4p range, with that 3.4p being a brief spike. Otherwise we have to go all the way back to that RNS release on 10th July 23 when the MMs spiked it down to 1.8p on the open and then all the way up to 6.5p on the same day. And that RNS had significance which was ' nowt ' compared to the last RNS...

I think that a takeover is likely.

Hamm ; I am just waiting to get out of Matd having been a long term holder since 2019. I hope that there is a takeover which allows us to exit with a double figure share price. Or a decent spike such as we used to have in 2023.

Sadly I have not short term traded MATD, but I very much wish that I had !

Hamm ; that's two separate American brokers that I am set up with, plus City Index with whom I am actively day trading a couple of indices. Is that enough real life experience for you ?

As a matter of fact try watching an intraday MATD chart with City Index - it's interesting.

Hamm ; there has been no recent spike has there ? The last spikes were in 2023 when we had spikes to 6p and 7p. If there was a spike tomorrow to say 5p or 6p then believe you me I would take a large chunk out. With an average of 3.6p it's great advice to suggest that I sell in the 2s....

And regarding books - thanks for propagating that lie again. Actually, I am now trading Nasdaq stocks intraday using software that would probably make your head spin if you looked at the set-up. And that includes 30 sec timeframes.....I would suggest that I do real life stuff that is light years away from where you are now with your 7p figure plucked out of your head, but ultimately meaning nothing.

Anyway Hamm - where do you get your 7p from exactly ? Please set down and explain your calculations which made you arrive at that valuation. Otherwise I may just as well say ' well IMO the share price should be 40p today - it's ridiculous that it's just 2.4p '

Hamm ; the price is what it is. Have you ever thought that you don't understand enough about AIM oilers to be involved with them, let alone always ramping and encouraging people to buy during a pump and dump spike ? I've lost count of the number of people on here saying ' it will be x amount by next week, next month ' etc etc. Always people's predictions turn out to be wrong - just wishful thinking figures plucked out of their head, and potentially sucking others in to their delusion.

The fact is that the share price has spiked up to 6p and 7p in the past on the basis of what somebody on here yesterday called ' nowt ' and with the company not even having legal access to the land. The fact that the share price is what it is today with production a couple of weeks or so away suggests that nobody on here understands really how these things really work, or what really goes on behind the scenes.

Y-Alam ; it's quite possible that you are correct - I think that I would be happy right now with any takeover around the 10p level.On the other hand it may simply be MM flipping activity going on - whenever there has been a recent positive RNS there has been an initial very small spike upwards at 8am followed immediately by heavy selling, with it usually finishing the day in the red. If the MMs wanted to dump a load of shares suddenly on the ask then the extra FOMO demand at 8am straight after a positive RNS would give them a chance to do just this.

What I do know is that the price action has radically changed. Just look at what happened in 2023 - without any land access permission, and following a couple of RNS releases the price spiked sharply upwards to 6p to 7p in what were very obviously pump and dumps.

Doc ; you said yourself that they will want to minimise risk. Sideways price action with shares being flipped rapidly is low risk, as the shorter the time one is in the market the lower the risk is. If you look at a 1 year monthly or daily chart of Matd you will see that during that time most of the share price action has been at low levels around support areas, and mainly sideways.

On a spike there will probably be more risk, but greater profits, as the shares will have been acccumulated at low prices, such as around the 2p to 2.5p level for example and then offloaded quite a buit higher up. A spike though does happen pretty quickly though. In those two spikes we saw last year the shares would very likely have been accumulated at the 2p to 3p level and then distributed all the way up to 6p and then 7p which were the tops of the spikes. Of course a sudden and vicious spike down in order to trigger stops also helps the cheap share purchase tactic ....

I don't buy into this idea that there is a brake on the share price caused by the raise, which is now several months ago. If that's the case then why did the share price recover from 2p up to 6p and then soon after that back up to 7p just a few weeks after the Feb 2023 raise ?

I just feel that the MMs are flipping shares between the bid and the ask, and through repeatedly dumping shares on the ask they can keep the share price low and pretty well sideways, which suits them just fine.

Proquo ; I totally agree with what you just wrote. What staggers me is how much some investors are in denial of the very obvious manipulation that goes on. I mean one only has to look at the price action last year without any permission for access to the land in place, yet two big pump and dump spikes in April and May 2023 to 6p and 7p literally just a few weeks after a raise dilution....And now with all the permissions in place and with production about to start this month, no reaction with the share price.

Manx ; I study micro-cap Nasdaq stocks every single day, and you should see what goes on there !

There are Chinese stocks listed on Nasdaq which have been going up several thousand % in a single day - and then back down again just as quickly. They are pump and dump shares, with loads of pumping going on via social media, text messages etc, and then when the share is about to be dumped it al goes quiet suddenly.

Anybody shorting one Chinese pump and dump share I can think of with just a relatively small 5,000 shares could have been several million Dollars in the red in just a few trading hours....

So please explain why in the last couple of years the share price exploded at times in an upward spike, without the company having any access permission to the land, and with inadequate funds to do anything even if they had permission. Like on 10th July last year, when the share price went up from 1.8p on the open up to 6.5p on the same day. - and this a couple of months after the second to last raise ! There has been just one raise since then - and it certainly doesn't account for the difference between the share price now and the peaks of the spikes in the last few years - ie 7p in May 23 or 6.4p in mid April 23 just 10 weeks after a Feb raise etc...

I just accept that the price action is highly manipulated - it's what happens with relatively low volume AIM shares.

This article in the link I have posted below shows one of the biggest dangers to MATD's share price in the near to medium term, though for some reason it never gets discussed on here. Of course if Israel atacks Iran's production facilities the price of oil will spike upwards. The Saudis however may then try to drag it back down. If Putin is starved of revenue as a result, then at least that will be positive ;
