To produce 3.2Gw you would need approx. 40 RR SMR - which still only costs £80B.

This may sounds a lot of lollie - but when you compare it to the £310B-£410B - spent on Covid - its actually peanuts.

Some really useful key points

£2b down payment and you get the whole project managed build and operational plant ready to walk into 1 yr down the line. Unlike the only other credible solution from NuScale who will require a customer to source contractors and project manage construction of the building and wider facility etc.

Only NuScale and RR, have or are, presently going through the international regulatory standards framework.

RR have designed to UK regulatory requirements from the start (which are the highest international standards)

The RR SMR works with existing feed stocks and wider infrastructure.

So in the red corner you have a start-up with no product, limited experience and just a desire to produce their asthmatic reactors using ‘off the shelf parts’ so as to avoid IPR issues. And want to use the UK as a test bed for their ‘open source’ reactor design – filling the country up with potential torrorist targets

And in the blue corner RR with 60+ yrs experience in the nuclear field, a reactor design which will produce meaningful output and offer the UK government an income stream from its 51%+ stake in the company.

It used to take 3-5 years for a car to get into production (pre 1980’s), but with modern CAD CAM it can now be reduced to 6-12 months (inc tooling). If apple stated that a new product were coming to market - the short time span would have fan boys spunking their nuts, - the world, and investors have a short focus span and want instant profit.

RR kit takes years and millions /billions due to the research ,complexity and reliability expectation. It’s bespoke quality engineering, not some audi or apple disposable mass produced tat (by Comparison )

I think free market will dictate this, RR have been working on this for 30+yrs that I’m aware off. The Saudis have invested – guessing that their oil train is on the loosing side.

All said and done- RR are already building mini reactors for subs , and these SMR will be produced. If sunak wants to try and burden the UK public with ever increasing and insecure energy, while RR are selling these reactors around the world – then good luck to the t0sser- he’ll not last long.

Hydrogen does not exist on Earth in its elenental form (apart from miniscule amounts in the atmosphere). – I know this, and it is spelt – elemental & minuscule

So 99.999% of Hydrogen on Earth are compounds with other elements and to break down these compounds to their elemental firms requires energy. – three years studying modules in chemistry (as part of a wider degree) tells me that Hydrogen is a element, and that compounds are mixtures of differing elements based often around the sharing of an electron

95% of Hydrogen at the moment comes from reforming fossil fuel(Gas) not from water. – I also know this, and 4% presently, but 4% PRESENTLY doesn’t. Due to historical cheap fossil fuels, which is about to change and become near cost equivalent to electrolysis.

85% of the energy required to break down the Gas or water into Hydrogen, you've guessed it, comes from fossil fuels. - see above, also At present, BUT , hydrogen is being investigated as a method of storage for energy from wind and solar due to it becoming near cost equivalent

Your mad ranting is missing the point that solar, wind, nuclear can all be used to produce hydrogen from a source H2O which is not mainly located in geo-political sensitive areas such as Russia or the middle east. The use of at least two of these forms of energy to split the double bond between Hydrogen and Oxygen is already underway – as a method of storing solar and wind power during periods of excess. Do not judge my dig at BOJO as some rapid green tree hugger - since I may well surprise you.
