@retirment , i 'get ' the maths- and undertand the equation. Thing is - this sends the message -'go to the UK adn they'll give you 40K to leave' - thats gonna turn out to cost a lot more.

@Retirment, The source of today’s debate here - is - why is the government given illegal dross 40K to leave the country. Round them up , put them in hand cuffs and escort them out the country. Because if badlands missed his tax payment (by mistake)– you can be sure they would be knocking on his door with handcuffs.

@retirment - to say the Germans have got it worse , so we should be thankful -isn’t really an argument nor defence .

Someone with some legal brains and money should now be taking the government to court - since they are adding and abetting illegal’s.

@Timmy, I do like you, and I understand your view point about Thatcher - but She didn’t close the coal mines as a vindictive act - we had got north sea gas online in the 70's , and she was sick of miners holding the country to ransom - que Mr scargill.

The miners got an excellent pay rise in the early 70's but Mr scargill wanted a socialist war with her.

Im no fan of hers - I was too young, but I do read both sides of the political debate - so as to try gain a fare view of history. Its one of those subjects that can be debated til the cows come home. But you have to drop any allegiance to give it a fare hearing :)

@retirment, if this country was spending money on worth while things - like say in the 80's , then I could agree with you with about people maoning about paying TAX, But since its being spunked on dross families who have broken the law - I can't

Im lucky / unlucky since I have my accounts in order so that I pay minimal TAX and live a minimal life style - but If I was paying huge TAX bills now - I would be steaming (even more). The government(s) are too quick to hand out money to wafes and strays and every hard luck story that rocks up .

I've just read the papers and can't believe what Im reading - money for breaking the law of the land. My P1ss is boiling and its not even 10am.

I was getting to the mindset yesterday of selling in the morning and buying back in the afternoon- but seeing how the US brougt the price up yesterdau - I reconsidered and thought those weeks of watching the US drag us down where over,,,, BUT no - same old same old. Spent the day in the garage with me tight shorts and a bucket of bubbles enjoying the nice wheather watching my car - and now i feel deflated

The only good thing to come from him was the realisation that Thatcher was an amazing leader – by comparison (and Im not even a conservative )

i blame blair, him and clinton (and the other globalist ******s) let china into the wto which slowly killed manufacturing , blair allowed the country to be flooded with europeans and others etc - who where lovely people - but worked so much harder for less pay and worse living conditions; this put a fire under house prices , and then blair encouraged children to go to uni and do dumb rrs degrees. now kids are delaying setting up families because they cant afford it.

i don’t care what rubbish anyone trys to argue otherwise - blair ruined this country

Judaism, Islam and Christianity are all bonkers – it’s the same story told from different view points ; placing different people at the centre of importance with a daft set of rules of control. Best thing – is keep ones sky fairy views to ones self and don’t share them with the wider community :)

some points , at the risk of being drawn into the mass-debate

1. keir stamer did the correct thing , in my view , in blocking trump from using military bases. the reason i believe this is because trump is only the commander chief of the us forces – as defined by article 2 of the american constitution. article 1 states that congess must vote on going to war. this means trump has gone against the american constitution by not gaining a vote from congress

2. while previous contact with the british army means i could have what some would call ‘sentimental attachment’ – i don’t like the fact that ‘our boys\girls’ could be used as cannon fodder for trump. they are people in uniform like you and i

3. the muslim community in this country is not one ****geneous group who all believe the same as those monsters who make the press. while islam has never gone through an enlightenment stage – unlike other religions , many in the british muslim community do not share the extremist views that radical preachers – often funded by foreign source .

4. turkey is an excellent example of how muslims can live in a democratic state.

5. the romans drove the jews out of palestine and scattered them around europe, they always said that they wanted to return to their home land, the good book references the jews their ;2000 years ago.

its an dreadful situation caused by an orange man who has little knowledge of the world and has never served his country.
