I think all the comments from the others are valid there is no delay it is simply process. I would add that if the govt was playing politics it would be extremely dangerous as other potential partners would see that as unreasonable and not conducive to The Bahamas being open for business.

There seems to be a strategy developing by the BG to drip feed news/info/subliminal messages that cash is desperately needed if ordinary Bahamians are to get back to the good old days and the only option is oil exploration. We had the Attorney General - Bethel a couple of months ago saying hard decisions need to be made BY GOVT about drilling for oil. The budget mentioned oil exploration in the Blue economy context. Several prominent news articles have appeared of late, including a Tribune editorial, virtually saying oil is needed in order to provide cash for standards of living to rise back up and environmental issues need to take a back seat. The writing is on the wall and it is being drip fed to the populace - nothing is going to improve without oil. If this is strategy then BG is in charge of timing and IMHO they want to expedite matters to get things done in their term of office. Therefore expect news sooner rather than later on EIA approval. Of course they need the revenues to pay for all they want to do, however if oil is proven then the Bahamas credit rating will significantly improve and ironically the debt mountain reduction argument for oil exploration will go out of the window. The BG can access financial markets again in order to get interim funding prior to actual royalties from oil production. GLA.

Spot on Degsy. Also IMO BG have been driving this since their inauguration. They had �housekeeping� discussions with BPC immediately upon taking office. They visited Texas (Shell US HQ ) upon taking office. They are using media to promote to the populace - Tribune 5 May article v positive. Usually Tribune quite anti oil and govt. BG know they have one chance to solve Bahamas problems and it is money ergo oil. The finance industry is dying in offshore centers and what many folks do not realize is that tourism and offshore finance are heavily correlated - Holidays are taken on the back of business trips and expense accounts are spent on business trips. This does not bode well for the 2 historic pillars of Bahamian wealth. Minnis knows this and is farsighted enough to understand that a seismic shift needs to occur. GLA

I do wonder (optimistically of course) whether the precedent of first time ever paying for exclusivity Means BPC are actually in a more powerful negotiating position than most think? The negativity of years of waiting can lead to desperation for any deals by investors - low expectations. I would not be surprised if we ended up with a larger % of the JV than currently commentary on this board Is indicating. GLA.

This new govt has said nothing about referenda- deliberately IMO. Bethel says govt will decide allowing drilling. EIA will be the rubber stamp to allow go ahead for whoever eventually drills. GLA.

How do you know that Macquarie bought the shares? The only reference I have seen to correlate the 2 is speculation that the cash may have been raised to pay Mac s fees for advising. Also it is unlikelyy to be them as the new investor IMO as they were issued warrants I believe as part of the sign up.

My understanding of the regs is that it is 30 WORKING DAYS that govt has to comment re environment application. This would mean circa June 8th deadline. Anyone know for certain please as if everyone is expecting news by end of May, share price may be hit if not forthcoming? GLA.

Is someone trying to keep a lid on this? Last 3 trades of yesterday just happen to add up to exactly 1 mill! This sp has been managed since 0.90 where it stayed for weeks with big end of day trades being reported. Same happened at a couple of other levels on the rise. IMO there is definitely a whale in the water! GLA
