Original timeline guesstimate (based on DAs comments post RNS) was a couple of months for the DD to be done. That was Jan 12th so even with any additional delay due Covid, this phase must be about done. It would then roll into the legals and completion. I would expect some sort of comment to confirm the DD stage completed so that must be imminent.

Then again, the expected roll out into Public Consultation for the EIA was being teed up for ‘early New Year’ and we have not heard a peep about Moz. It was good to be updated on the metallurgical flow and potential impact on the bottom line numbers but hopefully we may have something of substance before they feel obliged to confirm cost savings by changing their supplier of teabags.

The initial drive was to bring the measured resource up to a suitable size and have a suitable life of mine. They basically stopped the conveyor belt, moving / improving any further inferred or indicated resource once the measured hit the 27 mark, as this was needed to show viability.

Meanwhile of course, there remains a void of info on Moz, despite the appointment and expected options for the way forward. There has been much speculation regards the possibility of splitting so that the Eu lithium project is ‘clean’ and ready for further expansion (Galp was at project level). That would make Moz and HMS footloose and fancy free. I suppose we shall eventually hear what the plans are, preferably sooner if there are any necessary moves needed to progress Portugal. In which case does an HMS operation sit comfortably on AIM rather than a more mining orientated exchange with comparables. Whatever happens some certainty should actually attach a value to the enormous asset that Moz is/ could be / should be and that is something that must be bubbling up, 6 months after Bruce Griffins appointment. I for one am expecting some sort of update soon.

There have already been reports of ties between Galp and NV in Portuguese press along with the likelihood of an unnamed Portuguese miner. 12th Jan, there was the announcement of the agreement between Galp and SAV, with an approximate 2 months for DD and assuming ok, then another month for legal completion.

Big comment slipped in was that they as a group would be looking to apply for further areas in the upcoming auctions.

VW and NV would seem to be deepening their ongoing relationship, and with no real mention of integration back into raw materials, maybe VW are leaving it up to their trusted partner NV. So does it make sense to look at what relationships are being forged by NV eg Galp and who they are forging links with ie SAV. Bring on the auctions.

So, DA and SAV features in China Times, the WSJ and several EU publications but continues towards its goals almost unnoticed in the UK. One of these days you might be able to hear “where did they come from?”

I listened to his statement and read through it and nowhere are there any direct references to this or any decisions. This would seem to be an unscripted personal comment picking out Portugal’s efforts.

Interesting that SAV are a point of reference in the WSJ and yet are barely mentioned in any UK papers, be it red tops, broadsheets or pink.

CM, hi. As you say, at some stage decisions actually have to be taken and simply cannot be kicked down the road. It has ever been thus but they certainly at the point where there is no more road and the rest of Europe and industry will simply source elsewhere.

They have form on two counts. On the pos side, they would seem to be quite heavily into the ESG thematic, on the negative, then sometimes known for being in and then out, with relatively short term trades. There are others that float under the 3% Invisibility Cloak.
