The role of CD4+ T-cells in immunity is complex as exemplified by their multiple functions. Evidence now shows that CD4+ CTL exist in vivo in humans, which challenges our ordinary view of CD4+ helper T-cells in contrast to CD8+ killer T-cells. What their role and its importance is in the immune response remain totally unclear. Scancell don't have massive virus experience with ImmunoBody - they chose to concentrate on LD's area of expertise - cancer vaccines. If you think using standard tried and tested viral vectors makes Scancell a viral/infectious disease specialist then you simply don't understand the level at which research and development is carried out.

For absolute clarity and because you don't seem to have heard it last time I will reiterate that nobody is calling into doubt LD's obvious brilliance but she specialises in cancer vaccines - that is her field of expertise. There are others who specialise in infectious disease/virology. Of course there is crossover between the two but if the Government wanted to fund research on a cancer vaccine do you think their first port of call would be the infectious disease specialist or would it be the cancer vaccine specialist? That was the point both Ivy and I were trying to make and that you don't seem to be able to grasp.
