Influenza is a respiratory tract infection causing a wide range of illnesses in
humans and is a major cause of hospitalisation and death in the elderly.
Vaccination is the main method of influenza prophylaxis and current vaccines
are highly effective at preventing illness in children and adults though less
effective in the elderly. Current vaccines attempt to induce strong antibody
responses against the haemagglutinin (HA) and to a lesser extent the
neuraminidase as the antibody responses against these antigens correlate with
protection against influenza either by neutralising the virions or blocking viral
entry into cells. Antibody mediated protection is effective against homologous
influenza strains but relatively ineffective against heterologous strains. As
influenza A strains can mutate their coat proteins rapidly, the failure to
anticipate a major antigenic drift/shift or the emergence of a pandemic strain
would lead to greatly reduced protective efficacy of the vaccine. T cells can
mediate heterologous protection by targeting other viral proteins as the structure
of these antigens is conserved within the type of influenza and cytotoxic T
lymphocytes (CTL) have a key role in clearing influenza virus from the lungs.
Current subunit vaccines are effective at inducing neutralising antibody
responses but less effective at inducing cellular immunity. Antigen/antibody
complexes allow the efficient internalisation of the complex via the Fc receptor.
When internalised through the FcgR the antigen can be processed and presented
in both the MHC class I and class II pathways allowing a broader immune
response to the antigen. Using the approach of HA fused to an Fc tail (HA-Fc)
which promotes binding to Fc receptors on the cell surface, ImmunoBiology
Ltd has developed an approach that potentially enables HA to enter both the
MHC class I and class II pathways resulting in broader humoral and cellular
immune responses. Here we show that using HA-Fc in vitro to restimulate
human PBMC, we are able to generate antigen-specific IFN-g secreting cells to
the HA & these cells are also able to recognise heterologous HA proteins. Using
a murine in vivo immunogenicity model, we have found that HA-Fc generates a
better anti-HA IgG1 & IgG2a response than that seen with a commercially
available influenza vaccine containing the same HA.
These data suggest that an influenza vaccine (FluBiovax), based on HA-Fc will
generate an effective immune response in vivo by the targeting of antigenpresenting cells via the Fc receptor & this immune response has the potential to
protect against subsequent infection with influenza

it will be interesting to see the potency of the Immunobody via the Nano protein route .. because if it proves itself ...the draw backs of electroporation are eliminated .......

MAB2811 is the Key to Moditope TCR and this research when published i feel will be a major driver. BioNtech have spent a fortune gearing up for personal vaccines so has Roche ... they need targets ...

Yes, 8 quid a share is definitely looking too small a valuation as we transition into a Genentech :p
It is said every year... pivotal!.... but next year really could be the one! Especially if we move into it with our first commercial deals around AvidiMab/Glycans and have an idea of what can come from that part of the pipeline value-wise... And if the progress with Covidity continues with full support and exposure hopefully into trial... But above all else... at least to me the modi1 trial the 4 trials in one that could indeed put us in a position of transitioning into something far more than a tiny bio... Anyways this is a far more comfortable place to be than this time last year even if the sp has a ways to go for us all to be sitting on a nice profit :)

Yes, I think the potential deal/s on the MaBs and especially Avidimab could well be the beginning of an ARMs holdings scenario we will get to know that more on the first deal especially as that seems to be just one asset as in I presume one of the MaBs that the collaborator particularly is attracted to maybe as it would fit best with their current pipeline or maybe as it can target a cancer they really want to go after or indeed are already going after and they may see it a possible combination we just at this stage do not know as Ray has pointed out any deal on a MaB ought to also include a deal with Avidimab would that be just for exclusive use on that MaB or other MaBs in their pipeline the main thing at the moment is they are wanting a deal so they did like what they saw in their year of research and behind them come two others.... So we will see
