Correct me if I am wrong but as far as I know the the only thing related to housebuilders that is going to be in the budget is the expected 3 month extension to the stamp duty which is already priced in,now if it is not mentioned that is negative for house builders on the day,which I don't think is going to happen yet if a longer extension like till the end of the year is announced then that would be positive,does anyone know any other annoucements in the budget that could affect housebuilder sp's?

Well it depends if the increase in bond yield that caused builder sp's go down last week and Friday is over,and all 3 builder results next week are positive with no warnings about impact of Clovis like psn's update in january!

The main reason why HBuilders were down last week especially on Friday is being sited as bond yields going up which pushes down utility,builders and technology stocks.
Now I am thinking even if tw.psn vty results + budget is good next week but bond yields still high or continue going higher then house builders will still go down theoretically and as far as the new mortgage guarantee scheme is concerned its a replacement of the H2B but not restricted to first time buyers or new built which is better so may push up sp's a bit

Tw yearlies next Tuesday 2nd march and PSN Wednesday 3rd fingers crossed there is no warning about this year from PSN as in trading update in January plus budget on Wednesday too hoping for no surprises that may affect builders adversely!

This was the only stock among h9usebuilders that closed by a significant 2.5% yesterday others were either down or closed up less than 1 %!

I remember reading in a houseprices report lately that expiration of stamp duty holiday does not affect builders as much as mortgage availability does and since that is not going away we should not really be concerned or fearful of stamp duty holiday whether it is extended or not does everyone agree?
