Heap leach is c complete game changer. We now need more gold!! So the next update is very important.

We also need mining operations to intensify, but if not, as you say, heap leach for longer and achieve a better recovery.

Can I ask you mention 14 days and a month. Is 1 heap leach basically a month? 14 days of leaching and the rest of the month being used for preparation, loading, unloading the pad? So that every month 5000 tonnes is processed? As opposed to every 14 days suggests the pad could be loaded twice in a month (hope I make sense)!

I feel my post is confusing, point is the stockpiled ore for the HL pads could add 667oz next quarter (averaging 220 oz a month)- but the heap leach pads can contribute much, much more.

I’d err with Apro’s figures. I did not understand the relevance of the tailings plant vs CIL and this is why my numbers differ.

If we process the same amount next quarter AND in addition work through the 22,744 tonnes of heap leach stock pile then you can increase Apro’s numbers by another 220 oz per month. So, 862 - 920 oz per month could be achieved in the next update.

Ifs, buts and maybes but that calculation does not have the 2 heap leach pads, that I understand are commissioned, or near commissioned, working flat out. ( I think they could process much more ore )

For reference:

22744 tonnes @ 1.72g/t and 53% recovery = 20733g = 667oz
Over 3 months this is 220oz per month.

If we assume 2 x 5000 tonne pads x 53% recovery x 1.72g/t = 9116g every 14 days, which is 293oz every 14 days. So the 2 pads can contribute a lot more.

The heap leach pads really could make a huge difference in the next update (I hope!)

Finding it hard to buy suggests the seller is gone. But there are big sells coming through, which is confusing me.

Rerate all depends on the seller being gone, IMO, which I’m not sure is the case.

Hopefully, however, Robbie generates a bit more interest, more buys, and the seller will be out more quickly….

The EMR figures by the end of the month are a another big part of the puzzle.

Mining operations seem to moving progressing nicely. We now need an increase in the resource to mine. Robbie does state that grades are in line with what they were expecting and so I am very much looking forward to the update at the end of the month.

The thing that did not help us today was the amount of gold sales. It paints a picture (without any actual investigation) that the mine is not performing as hoped or expected. I am curious to know why they sold less gold than they produced, however I am more confident about GCAT having gone into the numbers reported in the update, and with the help of a few posters on here today filling in the blanks!

Thank you, I thought that might be the case, the heap leach returns require some tinkering for optimisation, if you leach for longer you get more recovered but at some point it is diminishing returns and you cut your losses and start again, if that makes sense.

I think Robbie’s statement of being on track for 24,000 per annum is not too far fetched.

I’d like to know more about heap leach pads and the additional mine expansion, and I think the RNS could have been clearer. But I think it’s not too great a leap of faith that we will achieve the 24,000 from the current numbers and bearing in mind the final mine expansion is not yet in place.

Regarding the exploration, drilling, that appear to be going well form what Robbie says. We will know much more in 5 or 6 weeks :)

I’m conclusion.

Processed 51732 tonnes, 1.75g/t, 80% recovery = 2675 oz in the quarter, 10700 oz per annum.

Gold mined and to be processed 44,486 tonnes, 18375@2.64g/t + 26489@2.33g/t = 3891 oz. 80% recovery suggests 3100oz from that ore (next quarter?). That is 12000 oz per annum.

Then… heap leach.

5000 tonne pad, 1.72 g/t and 53% recovery = 150 oz.
Increasing to 20000 tonne = 600 oz.

Is this per month, per quarter? If per quarter it is another 2400 oz per annum….

Do you know how often they charge the heap leach pads?

I did, Joff, though we seem to have a 10% different conversion between grams and ounces.

My question is can we claim 100% of the gold is recovered? I don’t know enough to comment.

Either we have not sold all the gold or they recovery rate is remarkably low. I would think you are correct and not all the gold has been sold. It would have been helpful to state this.

Heap Leach Pads
- As already stated there is 1 of 5000 tonne heap leach pad. The intention is to have 4, total capacity of 20,000. But then there is talk of 7,500 … so is it 2x7,500 + 1 x 5,000 for a 20,000 capacity?

There is mention of 53% recovery after 14 days. So do we get nearer 80% recovery after a month and then add new ore? Basically how many lifts from each pad will we get per annum? How many 5000 tonnes a year will be processed and what is the finally recovery (>53%?)

Processing Plant
There is talk of 18,375 tonnes @ 2.64 g/t and 26,489 @ 2.33 g/t (at 100% recovery this is 3891 oz). I’m presuming this has not been processed?
Then it is stated 51,732 tonnes @ 1.75g/t was processed. At 100% recovery this is 3343oz. I don’t know what level of recovery they are getting, but they then state Gold sales of 1226 oz. 35% recovery? I struggle to believe that is correct.

So all in all. I am confused.

I agree, however I’m not sure the heap leach cycle is over and the gold from the first heap leach pad is included in the numbers.

He also said they pared back production to make improvements. So (and I hope I am not saying this next time there is an updated) All eyes on the next update. If there is noteable increase in production then I will begin to wonder.

Robbie states they are in target for 24,000 oz. In 3 months we will know if that is looking realistic ..

Not a clue, legalwolf but we have some results released. Robbie and the team will have more info than has been released (I think they released the highest grade strikes as a bit of a feel to the results). They will already have some idea of what the results will do to the measure and inferred numbers.

That Robbie is in town, enthusiastic, upbeat, banging the drum about Kilimepesa suggests he thinks the drill results are good enough to support the mine expansion plans.

No change to the shareholders on the first slide, so no clue to any seller (from Q1 presentation in January)

If I can count… 51 holes drilled and analysed, 9 drilled and not analysed, 17 planned (and an additional 16 target drillholes).
So much more than my 1/3 of the way through drilling the hill, nearly complete by end of May as it states….
